trevor :: 24th week

 7/22/14
 this is how these pictures go these days :)

trevor: got feet in mouth, chiropractor, his version of planking (when pulling him up by his hands/arms, he always stiffens up and goes all the way to his feet rather than sitting) :)

--------------------

wednesday, trevor and i met my good friend trina at irvine park in chippewa which is a cool park with some zoo animals, a petting zoo, lots of playgrounds and a road/path loop around the park. we saw all the animals (hyenas, tigers, bears, bison, zebra, ostrich) then walked the loop. it was a great walk and so good to see trina, it had been way too long!

there was more packing going on this week as we'll be moving most of our stuff back up to mom's so i want to be able to take a vehicle full of stuff each time i'm already going up there. it's amazing how much stuff you have when you have such a large space/house with lots of storage. uffda!

thursday evening, trevor, tator and i went up to mom's for the weekend; it was rock fest in al's county so he was working lots, then he came up sunday-tuesday. friday, we ran some errands and i took trevor to my chiropractor/friend, angie. i had heard from a couple people that getting babies adjusted can help with gas, so i emailed angie and she said she helps babies with gas all the time. so we went in and she found that his neck is a little bit stuck and his lower back & hips are stuck big time. she said that's common in babies when the mom had pitocin, as i did. she also said it's good we found it now or that could have affected his crawling. the frist adjustment, i didn't see much change. i also took him back to her monday, in which i didn't see much change either but i was hopeful. he did great, didn't like the neck part much (which i'm not a fan of either when i'm getting adjsuted).

 saturday we hung out around mom's including eating outside, sunday al came up and we stayed indoors since it was so hot/humid. at night, we played games and i recieved a call from jodi asking about water breaking. they eventually went to the hospital and her water had indeed broken. trevor's bff, lukas, was born monday morning, 8 days early!! al stayed at shane & jodi's house with the dogs both sunday and monday night, so it was perfect timing. :) we went to visit them in the hospital monday night and luke is tiny and so, so cute. he was 6 lbs 10 oz and 20.25 inches long.

monday night softball was at 10pm; uffda! it was actually kinda nice because monday was so humid that it was a tiny bit cooler by 10 pm. we had fun and won.

trevor :: 23rd week

7/15/14

trevor: ate cereal for the first time, sitting up much better, will hold himself up for a little bit if i just hold his hips and in his bumbo seat, grabbing his toes this week but hasn't got them into his mouth yet, no indication or feel of teeth yet, not sleeping well at all, laughs by himself at things now

-----------------

not too much went on this week especially since i was so tired. the whole week treovr woke up a minimum of 3 times every night, usually more. i'm pretty convinced it's gas as he wriggles and wiggles and worms around until he toots and then i'm able to get him back to sleep. although if it's been 3 hours since his last feeding, i'll feed him if he's awake as well in hopes of keeping him asleep longer after that and in case he's hungry. he hasn't turned away from food yet :) but i'm not sure if that's the best bet, if it's creating more gas because he doesn't then sleep longer. mid-week i decided to see if it's something i'm eating so i cut out all dairy (although i wasn't having much dairy to start with), gluten and eggs. we also bought colic calm as we heard that it works wonders.

friday once al was awake and before he headed to work, we went into eau claire to start the process of possibly moving into a townhome in eau claire. we will not be able to afford another winter in this big, cold house especially when trevor will be mobile and i can't put him under 5 blankets or hold him all the time to keep him warm as i did after he was born. we also picked up the colic calm and stopped and my previous boss robin's garage sale so they could see trevor.

saturday evening we gave trevor his first food: oatmeal cereal. i pumped 2 tablespoons of milk and mixed in 1 teaspoon of cereal. it was very liquidy but i fed it to him via spoon (i had been sticking a spoon in his mouth for a couple of days while he was in his highchair just to see what he'd do). he did just fine with it but i figured it was just like milk, maybe a tiny bit thicker, from a spoon. so then i put almost another full teaspoon of cereal in so it was a little bit thicker and he did good with that too. it was still pretty liquidy and he didn't really mouth it, so i may need to make it thicker or wait a bit to try again. i wanted to try it for the first time when al was here so i figured we'd just go for it. i'll probably pump a little bit here and there so we have some milk on hand for next time.

monday softball was cancelled again so we hung out with my mom and headed home on tuesday. tuesday i was stressed from having very little sleep (trevor woke up 8 times monday night), trying to decide on moving and possibly al changing jobs, packing, planning, etc. but it looks like we'll be moving into a townhome in eau claire, right next to our friends, the risen's. it's much, much smaller than the house we're in now and right in the middle of the city. hard to think how we'll all do in the city again, especially tator. so very sad to leave this house and the cats; it's the house we brought tator and trevor home to. :(

tuesday, i brought trevor into the doctor to see if they could help with his gas and lack of sleep. they didn't find anything and didn't offer any other suggestions of things to try. i can't wait for our real doctor, dr sarumi, to get back from maternity leave. i'm not a fan of this other doctor we've been seeing in the mean time. we'll just continue gas drops and gripe water, and hope that he outgrows it soon so we can sleep. she also told me to add everything back into my diet since it doesn't seem like that helped anything.

i bought an ice cream bucket full of local strawberries and made my first attempt at freezer jam with them, as well as ate a bunch and froze some individual berries for trevor in the future (probably in his mesh teether bag thing). i also froze some mashed bananas and sweet potatos for baby food! can't believe we're almost there; the doctor told us to start/attempt baby food at about 5.5 months.

trevor is all smiles in the mornings, which is delightful especially after lack of sleep nights! he's pretty easy during the day too! i think i'm finally figuring out how to get him down for naps without him screaming! he can now go longer awake between sleeps, so it's 2 hours first thing in the morning then 3 hours in between after that. so about those times, i watch him and he'll rub his eyes when he's tired. i then carry him on his tummy on my one arm for a bit, then i turn him over with his head & upper body in my left arm, tuck his one arm under him/under my left arm, put his pacifier in, hold his other arm down with my left hand in a mock swaddle, then tuck his legs under my right arm and pat his back/bottom. it's a lot but i think i have it down and it really helps to hold him like that since he's such a squirmer. he usually then falls asleep pretty quickly, usually without crying!! hooray!! i have been nursing him to bed every night as part of our routine now.
 he can get his pacifier in his mouth now,
well kind of :)

trevor :: 22nd week / 5 months

I just found this blog post that I never posted, so posting it now. :)

7/8/14

trevor: grabs his toes, uses his feet to grab hanging toys, nursing to sleep at bedtime now to avoid crying, sunday night he slept 8-8 with one feeding at 530 but that's the only night for a while, possibly transitioning to 2-3 naps a day and staying awake for longer than 2 hours now.

--------------------
7/4/14

this was 4th of july week! al worked 8 hours monday, 16 tuesday, 8 wed, 12 thurs, & 12 friday; uffda! needless to say he wasn't able to be a part of the festivities this year. but mom came down on thursday to bloomer and then on friday, the 4th we went up to my great aunt sara jane & great uncle gordon's cabin. we went up there every year on the 4th when i was younger, and i hadn't been up there in years. it was only about 1.5 hours from our house. everyone there was happy to see us and loved trevor. he was held by lots of people! it was a great day, a little windy off the lake so trevor stayed mostly inside but i went swimming and we chatted with lots of people. trevor was the youngest by 10+ years so it was fun for all them to have a baby around. made me happy to be up there again.

we came back to bloomer that night, didn't see any fireworks, but it was a good 4th. saturday mom stayed most of the day and we got a bunch done around the house, mostly outside since it was gorgeous out.

after i posted on facebook about trevor not likely to fall asleep, i got lots of suggestions and decided to try an earlier bedtime for him. beditme is tricky as a stay at home mom because i don't have to get up at a certain time and kind of wanted him to sleep a bit longer in the morning to get as close as possible to al's schedule. but we did an 8 o'clock bedtime (we were doing 9 or 930ish) and he's sleeping better, longer, easier. so far. hopefully it continues. i also nursed him to sleep all this week when i could which made bedtime a lot less stressful for me. he slept from about 8-8 with 1 or 2 feedings in there in which he falls asleep when he's done. hopefully that was the issue.

he also only took 2 naps on saturday so we'll see if that continues. he was doing 3 or 4 short (45 min to an hour) naps prior, so 2 longer naps would be easier to get stuff done around the house and have some time to get back to my books. he's still not super strong holding his head up so we try to do lots of tummy time and sitting up time. we'll be giving him some cereal mixed with breast milk in a couple weeks so we need him to sit in his highchair well by then.

sunday was rainy so we did stuff around the house and then monday trevor and i drove up to mom's for softball. softball ended up getting cancelled while we were in the parking lot due to rain; so many rain outs this year. early tuesday morning we got word that trevor's buddy, baby zeidler, had come into the world. we can't wait to meet cal; he's adorable! tuesday morning we drove back to bloomer to see al for a bit before he had to go to work his 12 hour shift. ugh, so much overtime (he has 2 more 12 hour shifts next week and lots coming in august); it's good for the money and for job security but we want to see al too.

trevor :: 21st week

7/1/14

trevor: he grabbed a toy while he was on his tummy, got his leg stuck in the crib slats, turned onto his tummy from back while swaddled in bed, always wants something in his mouth loves the links, lots of drool

--------------------

friday, al, trevor, tator and i went up to the cities. we stopped at mom's and then headed to shane and jodi's house. it was so good to see them especially jodi's cute belly (due end of july). we hung out friday night and saturday, then trevor and i went to mom's and al stayed until monday morning. trevor did great other than getting over-tired at night, which was my fault for not realizing what time it was. he tried out baby L's crib, toys and bouncer, and they work great. :) shane and titan (their chesapeake bay retriever) did great with trevor, way better than i expected. and of course jodi was great, it's fun to see her with trevor and chat with her on stuff to do to help his development since she's a 0-3 special ed teacher. trevor loved his uncle shane, sitting on his bff baby L, and titan picked right up on protecting him.

saturday morning when trevor was in baby L's crib, i checked our video monitor and he was on his tummy in his swaddled; scary! i ran in there, flipped him over and made mental note that he can no longer be swaddled. the next 2 nights in the pack n play at mom's he wiggled all over the place and slept sideways in it, goofy boy.

sunday at lunch time, al joined us at mom's to run some errands and then stoped at my cousin, maren's new work in woodbury for a free lunch. it's a new restaurant called the craft and it was their soft open to try out food. trevor slept the whole time :) and the food was delicious! then al went back to shane's to watch the wrestling pay per view...

monday mom went in to work and trevor and i went to visit my cousin aryn's new house in oakdale right by our softball fields. and ran some errands. then before softball, tyler and i ran back to aryn's house so tyler could see it and see auntie cindy. trevor came to the game; we lost but it was a nice night.

tuesday when we returned home i had to put his mesh bumper on his crib so that he can widdle and not get stuck.
