2015 :: 49/52

another week of beautiful weather, with a little rain mixed in. we got outside once, if not twice each day. Thursday morning was gorgeous with sun, blue skies and 50 degrees, until the wind picked up and blew in the rain clouds. we also played lots over at the neighb's house with the daycare kids.

Al had Saturday and sunday off this week so Saturday morning we drove up to mom's house for Christmas cookie making day. maren and tula rae joined us, too! we made lots of cookies and all were exhausted by night time. then sunday at 1230 we had brown Christmas (my dad's extended side of the family) in woodbury. there were lots of people there! and trevor was the shyist I've ever seen him but warmed up and was running around after a bit. we had yummy soup and lots of cookies! we left about2 so trevor could nap on our way home to ec. once we got home, the packer game was on and we were supposed to go to the neighb's to watch, but trevor was still sleeping. so much so that I put him in his crib and he was out. I eventually had to wake him up at 430, both so he would still go to bed and so we could go to the neighb's house for the second half.

Monday we woke up to tons of rain and puddles, which after a couple hours changed over to snow!!!! it was heavy, wet, slushy snow, but still pretty and white! hopefully we'll have a white Christmas. Monday starts Al's 2 weeks of weird shifts, including lots of overnights. :( he hasn't done an overnight in like 2.5 years.... not looking forward to it especially next week with Christmas...

trevor's schedule:

-wake up about 7 am, I usually get him out of bed about 730
-watch curious George with momma and while momma makes breakfast (sometimes he'll come help me with breakfast on his step stool)
-breakfast at 8, he's usually in his high chair until 830 or later eating, while I eat, clean up kitchen, do dishes
-play time with music on (Christmas music lately) and try to get a to do list item done until dada gets up (9ish), sometimes we'll go over and play at the neighb's house.
-dada gets up, and Trevor helps him make his breakfast. then sits at the table while dada eats and eats some of dada's breakfast (snack)
-watch price is right/play in living room, or run errands, or play outside weather permitting
-1130 start lunch, T helps or plays with whichever parent is not making lunch, starts eating between 1145-12 (again takes him half an hour or so to eat even some of his meal)
-read books about 1215-1230 then down for nap, usually dada puts him down after some snuggling and singing in his dark room
-momma & dada watch a show together during nap time, Al leaves for work at 2, I workout at 2
-T wakes up somewhere between 3 & 4, usually closer to 3.
-small snack if I can remember
-play outside weather permitting, sometimes we'll go over to neighb's and play, to do list items, craft
-start supper about 445 to eat between 5 & 530 although i'm thinking of pushing this back later (we were doing 5 when Al was working at 7 so he could eat with us before work, but he works at 3 now)
-after supper, while T is still in high chair eating (he's not great at it and still throws stuff on the ground while saying "na no") I do dishes or put away dishes from morning
-play time, we try to do some running or jumping inside
-we watch wheel of fortune at 630, will often do coloring, painting or a craft in here too.
-bath at 715 if bath night, pjs on, small snack/milk/water, brush teeth, read books,
-bedtime somewhere between 745 & 8 depending on when he woke up from nap, with some snuggling and singing while standing up in his dark room. he still sleeps in a sleep sack and sleeps with at least 4 blankets, usually sleeps on top of the blankets or hugging them. has a small toddler pillow now too that sometimes gets thrown out of the crib.

trevor :: 49th week

1/13/15

trevor: drank a little bit out of a cup without a top on it, tried mandarin oranges & I don't think they sat well with his tummy so we'll hold off on citrus for a while yet, bumps his head lots, crawls under things now, eats breakfast now but is not a fan of eggs, tried to say juice after me and now says the "c"/"s" sound lots (possibly for yes?), nursing for less and less time each session :(, says num num while eating, dances lots, tried cucumber, likes to crawl over things like couch cushions, obsessed with playing in the dog kennel, likes to put things on shelves while standing,

-----------------------------------

it was super cold this week so we stayed inside, most of the time in our pajamas, other than a trip to target. I worked on making things for his birthday party. Al worked on staying warm while at work. trevor worked on balance while upright, crawling over & under things, and discovering every inch of our house.

I thought Trevor was eating a ton of food but after writing it down and measuring it out, he's eating within the spectrum for his age. but he is on the higher end. :) he eats finger foods first and does great, especially if he likes something. but gets bored of it easily, so we still do at least 2 purees in between and/or at the end to ensure he gets enough. it also gives him a little break on the finger foods so that he'll usually go back to it. I have trouble getting him to like veggies as finger foods, so I make sure at least one of his purees is veggies- usually squash or sweet potatoes. I've started cutting back the amount of cereal I mix in with his purees in hopes that he'll eat more finger foods if he needs more food and not be relying on my spoon feeding him for calories (although I don't mind feeding him).

trevor's schedule as of now:

-wake anywhere from 230-6: nurse
-wake up for the day: 7ish by 8 for sure (we just cut out a nursing session here and replaced it with breakfast)
-breakfast about 8
-snack: nurse about 10
-nap exactly 3 hours after waking (1-1.5 hours)
-up by 1230, usually not earlier than 1130
-lunch almost right away after waking
-snack: nurse about 230
-nap exactly 3 hours after waking (1-1.5 hours)
-up by 430
-dinner about 5 (daddy eats with us since he has to get ready for work starting at 520ish)
-bedtime routine starts at 7: every other day bath, books, nurse, walk around & sing, sleep sack, noise machine on, then I walk him around his room singing 'you are my sunshine' for a while. hopefully sleeping about 730. if he isn't sleeping by 8, he'll have a rougher night sleeping, will wake up earlier to nurse, and will wake up earlier in the morning.
he crawled under his jumper to get to this little nook

trevor :: 27th week

7/12/14

trevor: slept through the night for the first time (12 hours) for 2 nights, then slept 12 hours with waking once about 430a for about an hour the rest of the nights, stayed in a seated position by himself for 5-10 seconds a couple of times, pulls his own hair, is getting bored of just being on the floor on his back or tummy, always sleeps on his tummy now, just about done with the chiropractor, poop is really stinky now since he's eating food, too big for 3 month clothes and just fits in 6 month clothes, size 2 diapers still, laughs often now, is ticklish on his tummy and sides, when he's done eating his baby food he loves to play with the spoon and a cup mostly just to chomp on them but it's good practice, took bottle eventually from my mom

------------------

wednesday was his 6 month appointment and we finally got our doctor back (from maternity leave); we were so glad to see her! he is 16 lbs 12 oz (up over a pound from his appt 3 weeks ago!) and 26.5 inches long. his weight is now up to the 40th percentile and his height is down to the 50th percentile. his head circumference is in the 80th percentile; lots of brains dr sarumi says. :) everything's great with him except we do need to go see the eye doctor for his crossed eye(s) or 'turned in' is the technical term at his young age. she helped solidfy that our sleep training efforts are good, normal and what should be happening. she wasn't concerned that he isn't sitting up on his own yet and loved that he is so strong when standing.

wednesday night, after just 2 days of ferber method sleep training, he slept through the night for the first time!!! 730p-730a! he only had a couple of little fusses but went right back to sleep after. i didn't get nearly that much sleep as i was constantly checking if he was still breathing :) but i was definitely more rested that morning! it also gave me a chance to pump a bottles worth due to being really full that morning. a win all around!

he also slept mostly through the night on thursday night, just waking crying at 630am, so i fed him and put him back down. then he slept until 730. i'll definitely take that! it also gave me the chance to get up and have some quiet, alone time in the morning as i wasn't able to fall back asleep after feeding him. i really think the earlier bed time, timing out his naps and bedtime instead of waiting for his tired cues, and the ferber method of sleep training did the job. but also feeding him some food (cereal or veggies) at night, chiro appts helping out his gas, and adjusting him to not nursing to sleep help as well.

his current schedule: 1st nap within 2 hours of waking, the nap is usually 1-1.5 hours, then awake for 3 hours, 2nd nap which is usually 2 hours or more, this hopefully puts him awake after 4 so that he's awake for 3 hours and in bed at 7 or after (whatever the 3 hours of awake time indicates, it's been about 730 lately). we haven't had to do him being awake before 4 from his 2nd nap yet since sleep training, but i'm assuming we'd give him a cat nap at 6ish then bed at 8? or maybe just bed anytime after 6, although that could mean waking for the next day at 6 which i wouldn't be very fond of. we'll have to see. also, when he sleeps through the night, i try to feed him every 2 hours during the day if he's awake so that he still gets in at 6 feedings each day.

this weekend was a busy one for me and the most i've been away from trevor. saturday i played on my brother's reigning champs team in the mud volleyball tournament in bloomer. it was tyler, me, my cousin aryn, her husband tyler, my brother's ex-girl friend/friend ashley and tyler's friend dan. we ended up winning it again after going into the loser's bracket and having to beat the team that beat us twice. they didn't time out the matches very well and we ended up playing until 9 pm and in the dark, but we beat them 4 games in a row to win. i rushed home to relieve mom as she wanted to head home. so we packed her vehicle full of the awkward sized stuff that needed to go to her house quickly and off she went. i then showered and went to bed at 11, only to be woken up by trevor at 430-530 then had to get up at 6 and on the road by 7.

while mom was watching him on saturday she had a little trouble getting him to take a bottle. the couple nights he had slept through the night, i was able to pump some so i had some milk for mom to feed him but we also have some formula. she tried to give him a bottle on his scheduled time (al was there helping too, before work) and he would have nothing to do with it. he cried and pushed it away. it scared me because the next day i was going to be canoeing on the river and not able to feed him. luckily, a couple hours later she was able to get him to take a bottle; we were hoping he just wasn't hungry enough the first time. and he ended up eating just fine out of the bottle on sunday for mom.

sunday mom babysat trevor again while i canoed the st croix river with some of my friends. it was manda and me in one canoe and meg and her friend shannon in the other. it was a blast and a gorgeous day! we stopped 3 times: once to explore a waterfall we heard, once for lunch and once right before the end to swim. meg's parents and shannon both had a canoe and the greeders have an inclosed trailer that fit the canoes so we left manda's car at o'brien and drove the suburban + trailer up to osceola and launched from there. the river was beautiful and there weren't a lot of people up in that area. i hope we can do it again soon!

monday i took trevor back to the chiro and she barely had to adjust him so it's sticking! then we had softball at 6 pm, we ended up tying but it was a beautiful night for ball. trevor and i headed back to bloomer early tuesday morning since al was off tuesday and wednesday. that was the last mom saw of trevor for almost 2 weeks since she's off to colorado with her golf friends on saturday for a week. it'll be weird going that long with seeing her, she's seen trevor once a week since he was born.
