2016 :: 26/52 :: 4th of July

this week was spent trying to get back into routine and trying to get a little boy to remember all the rules and good behavior. Al worked Tuesday and then started his next week on Friday; yay for lots of days off! We played with the neighb's and kiddos lots and packed some.

Wednesday we had the neighb's over for supper and then got to ride in Grama Sue and Grandpa Roger's (matt's parents) new RV they bought. it was fun and we stopped for ice cream on the way home.

Thursday I got to go garage saling in the morning (not many tho since it was 4th of July weekend) and Al and T played outside the whole time. that night we went to cancun for supper with the neighb's. After supper Jodi and I ran to menards and worked making some signs/projects for our new houses.

Friday Al worked so T and I spent time outside and getting ready for the weekend.

Saturday morning mom came down for the whole weekend. after nap we went over to jake, Kassie and kade's house with Jodi, matt, cam, chloe and Jodi & jake's parents, Deb and Dan. we played cribbage, T played in the water, we ate yummy food (grilled salmon), drank matt's lemonade, looked for the lost dog, had a bonfire with s'mores, and Al stopped by for a bit after work. it was fun but a late night for Trevor.

Sunday T and I took mom to shopko, and mom grilled burgers for supper. once Al and the neighb's were home and the kids were in bed, we had drinks on the patio but it was super buggy!

Monday morning T, mom and I headed to Sara Jane and Gordon's cabin again for the 3rd year in a row! it was lots of fun but busy and windy/chilly. there were lots of people there and Trevor got to play in the lake. we left right after supper because T was super tired after not having a nap. he slept almost the whole 2 hours home. once home we played outside a bit. then T had a bath, Al came home and we watched the neighbor's fireworks out the window. I didn't know if T would stay awake for the big fireworks at 10 but he loved the neighborhood fireworks so we went. we found an out of the way parking lot to park in and stayed in the car. the fireworks were right in front of us but T was so tired he didn't want to stay still to watch them, so we left after about 15 minutes of the show. it was good to see the fireworks but also good to leave early so that we didn't have traffic and T fell asleep very quickly once in bed.

Tuesday morning, mom, T and I went for a very muggy walk then went to Woodman's for some groceries. mom headed home right before lunch; I put T down early for nap and he fell asleep with half an hour.

trevor :: 22nd week / 5 months

I just found this blog post that I never posted, so posting it now. :)

7/8/14

trevor: grabs his toes, uses his feet to grab hanging toys, nursing to sleep at bedtime now to avoid crying, sunday night he slept 8-8 with one feeding at 530 but that's the only night for a while, possibly transitioning to 2-3 naps a day and staying awake for longer than 2 hours now.

--------------------
7/4/14

this was 4th of july week! al worked 8 hours monday, 16 tuesday, 8 wed, 12 thurs, & 12 friday; uffda! needless to say he wasn't able to be a part of the festivities this year. but mom came down on thursday to bloomer and then on friday, the 4th we went up to my great aunt sara jane & great uncle gordon's cabin. we went up there every year on the 4th when i was younger, and i hadn't been up there in years. it was only about 1.5 hours from our house. everyone there was happy to see us and loved trevor. he was held by lots of people! it was a great day, a little windy off the lake so trevor stayed mostly inside but i went swimming and we chatted with lots of people. trevor was the youngest by 10+ years so it was fun for all them to have a baby around. made me happy to be up there again.

we came back to bloomer that night, didn't see any fireworks, but it was a good 4th. saturday mom stayed most of the day and we got a bunch done around the house, mostly outside since it was gorgeous out.

after i posted on facebook about trevor not likely to fall asleep, i got lots of suggestions and decided to try an earlier bedtime for him. beditme is tricky as a stay at home mom because i don't have to get up at a certain time and kind of wanted him to sleep a bit longer in the morning to get as close as possible to al's schedule. but we did an 8 o'clock bedtime (we were doing 9 or 930ish) and he's sleeping better, longer, easier. so far. hopefully it continues. i also nursed him to sleep all this week when i could which made bedtime a lot less stressful for me. he slept from about 8-8 with 1 or 2 feedings in there in which he falls asleep when he's done. hopefully that was the issue.

he also only took 2 naps on saturday so we'll see if that continues. he was doing 3 or 4 short (45 min to an hour) naps prior, so 2 longer naps would be easier to get stuff done around the house and have some time to get back to my books. he's still not super strong holding his head up so we try to do lots of tummy time and sitting up time. we'll be giving him some cereal mixed with breast milk in a couple weeks so we need him to sit in his highchair well by then.

sunday was rainy so we did stuff around the house and then monday trevor and i drove up to mom's for softball. softball ended up getting cancelled while we were in the parking lot due to rain; so many rain outs this year. early tuesday morning we got word that trevor's buddy, baby zeidler, had come into the world. we can't wait to meet cal; he's adorable! tuesday morning we drove back to bloomer to see al for a bit before he had to go to work his 12 hour shift. ugh, so much overtime (he has 2 more 12 hour shifts next week and lots coming in august); it's good for the money and for job security but we want to see al too.
