trevor: tried mango and loved it even reached out for more, we are working on the 'more' sign (sign language) and he's almost got it, walked backwards while holding my mom's fingers, had first real sugar and could not fall asleep even though he was tired, ate his entire birthday cupcake/muffin by himself without it being cut up, crawls under things that are lower than his head like the kitchen chair legs (and gets stuck under them), I fell while holding trevor :(, pushed himself around on one of his bikes on the hard wood floor, has a huge energy spurt right before bed lately; this usually entails pushing his walker back & forth a bunch or playing a crawl around - stand up and laugh game with daddy, stood by himself while holding 2 toys and trying to put them together,

yikes! our last week of the first year! it went by so fast! can't believe my baby is just about one and I have a toddler now. i'll do a one year post for him on /for his actual one year birthday as the end of his weekly posts are one day off.
Tuesday night the neighb's and their daycare kids were outside playing after T's afternoon nap, so we went out to play in the snow too. we pulled Trevor around in his sled while he watched the bigger kids slide down our tiny driveway piles. the weather has been pretty nice lately but got colder by the weekend.
Saturday was trevor's first birthday party in the cities with grama joan, uncle tyler, grandpa peter, auntie althea, matt, gina, and cal. Jodi, Shane and Luke were invited, too, but poor Luke got RSV pretty bad so we didn't want to risk anyone's health or spreading. i'll do another separate post on the party since there's a ton of pictures!
Saturday night Trevor had trouble falling asleep even though he was super tired. we're thinking it was the sugar from his birthday muffin (even though I really tried to limit the sugar in his "cupcake," more on that in the birthday post).
sunday was the super bowl and since Trevor boycotted his afternoon nap, we just stayed at mom's. trevor went to bed at 730p so we watched the end of the game and then mom and I went to bed. well good thing I did, because he woke up crying at 1030 and he didn't go back to sleep until 130am. it was a long night. Al and I held him for the first 2.5 hours but after that we couldn't anymore. it sucked cuz mom and tyler both had to work the next day.... so after 2.5 hours we put him in his pack n play and just let him cry. Al went to bed and after about 20 minutes he was crying so hard he was coughing and I didn't want him to throw up so I picked him up again and finally he was out. it was a rough night, the worst in a long time. i'm thinking it was a combo of being over tired, not having put himself to sleep in 3 days, his tummy, and his molars. but who really knows.
sunday afternoon, we ran out to try to exchange one of Trevor's sleepers and as we were walking into a store, I was holding Trevor close to me to help keep him out of the cold wind, and I tripped on some uneven, hole in the cement. it is such a horrible feeling falling while holding your child and wanted to do anything you can to not let them hit the ground. it happened in slow motion but still so fast that I couldn't do a whole lot. I put my knee down first and thus scraped it up, and then put my forearms down to protect Trevor, but he did end up hitting the cement a little bit. my brother was behind me and saw it happening but couldn't react quick enough and mom was ahead of me and luckily was able to scoop T up quickly. in the end all was ok. Trevor bit his lip a little bit so there was a little blood but didn't have any scraps or scratches elsewhere.
in addition, my tennis elbow that I've had before has been flaring up this week and was horrible on sunday. I couldn't even pick Trevor up with it or hold it in a comfortable position. sunday was just not our day. :)
Monday, a very tired family headed back to eau Claire. we had driven separate vehicles so al and beeker drove fast while Trevor and I drove slower so T could have a longer nap. he was out by the time we got to the gas station that is 1 mile from mom's house. slept the whole way home. Monday Al dropped off rent and ran to the grocery store; the rest of the day was spent letting T sleep and prepping the house for having our friends over Tuesday night for another small birthday party for Trevor.
Tuesday Trevor was playing in front of me while I was sitting on the couch. he loves to pull himself up to standing while holding toys. he did so while holding 2 of his new cup toys we got him and he pushed back off the couch and stood on his own while trying to put one cup into the other. he was super stable and didn't even seem to notice he was standing on his own.

we got our new carrier in the mail.
he's gotten too big for our baby bjorn
and our hiking backpack is too big for shopping and such.
can't wait to try it out for real as it's supposed to be easier on my back and shoulders than the baby bjorn was. we may get a bit warm in it in the summer but hopefully when we're outside in the summer we can use our hiking pack in which he's away from my body.
