2023 :: 32/52

 Wednesday, August 9th, both kids had dentist appointments then I worked out at noon.

Thursday Tova had her tonsils removed. we had to be at the hospital (the same hospital both kids were born at) at 730am (it was originally 645 but got moved back a little the day before.) we ended up waiting in the waiting room for over an hour which made Tova more worried as we went. mom joined us once she arrived in eau claire. I had gotten Tova a set of 6 mini squishmallows so she could pick one out every so often and she brought her puggy and descendants blanket with her that jodi let her pick out from amazon. Her surgery was very short; maybe 15 minutes and the doctor came back in and said "yeah the nurse and i both looked in her throat just before the surgery and said yeah we're here for the right reasons" because her tonsils were SO big. Once she started waking up they asked her if she wanted her mom and she said yes. mom and i were waiting in her room and they brought her in crying a bit. i grabbed her and we laid in bed and it was the hardest 20 minutes! She was crying and screaming and breathing so hard as she was coming out of anesthesia. I just had to hold her, and talk to her, and try to get her to take some meds so they could kick in before she was back with it.

finally, she came out of it and just snuggled with me. once her supper came she ate it like a champ (probly from big meds still in her.) we had to stay overnight because her tonsils caused sleep apnea for her so they wanted to monitor her while sleeping so her body didn't freak out with getting so much more oxygen. mom left to get trevor (since Al was still pretty immobile) and they picked up some goodies & activities at the dollar store and brought them. we had a rough night of sleep between Tova being in pain, sleeping in a tiny bed with wires/tubes, and the nurses having to come in every couple hours.

we were released really early in the morning via the doctor; he said her throat looked good and would have the white scabs on it for a while (he showed me so I knew what to look for.) the nurse didn't get us discharged until just after 8am but she said Tova by far did the best overnight of all the kids they had. trevor got to go play at liam's for a bit so tova could rest. we had a REALLY rough week especially with sleeping and eating. Tova and i both slept in Trevor's room since her bed was in there because Al was sleeping in her room because he couldn't get downstairs yet. she ended up sleeping with me for at least 5 days and waking up crying about every 2 hours in pain but I could only give her meds every 3 hours. it was rough! I had to re-buy kids tylenol & motrin 3 times throughout the week because we had to keep up on meds every 3 hours during the day and at night. she also wouldn't eat anything, even all the soft foods we'd bought. she would drink things so that saved us.

saturday unc-o and grandpa neil came down to visit but didn't stay too long. Trevor got to go to the express baseball game with graham, emily and joe and he had a blast! they got free food and drinks, and got to stay for autographs after the game.

sunday trevor and i went on a 2 mile bike ride, al ended up getting a migraine, and i cleaned trevors room up from the big switch-a-roo when Al had his surgery. otherwise we just rested up.

tuesday trevor had his first flag football practice and his coach is one of my trainers from the gym, Riley. he loved it!
