wednesday-Sunday was spent at the cabin. we had some hot and humid weather and some storms!!! But we had a ton of fun, as usual. we did some fishing but didn't catch much and didn't keep anything. we found a great little sand bar on the lake that we parked the boats at and swam off of since we couldn't swim off our short, shallow dock. we did get stuck in a storm on the sand bar; it started down pouring so we pulled ourselves and our boat under the trees to try to keep things dry. but eventually had to book it back to the cabin with thunder and lightening in the distance. it was kinda scary. that night we went to the restaurant just down the street for supper and just as our food came out, the power went out due to the storms. we ate then went back to the cabin. luckily the power and a/c came back on after just a couple of hours.
friday was a perfect hot, humid boat day. we parked at the sand bar for the kids to swim. we tubed and skied off the sand bar too. I drove matt's boat while he and camdyn tubed (my first time driving tubers) and I was able to get them off. :) then chloe and i tubed and we did great (my elbows/shoulders didn't hurt and i was able to hold on for a long time; thank you gym!) jodi tubed with Tova and Carsyn. then i was in the water right on the sand bar with the big kids as they tried to ski. all 3 mostly got up but none really stayed up. Then I tried skiing but couldn't stay up either; i'm not sure if it was the boat, or i am used to wakeboarding, or i was tired. the kids loved swimming off the sand bar and playing on/with the tube in teh deep part too.
saturday we went on a road trip. we went to copper falls state park which was only 30 minutes away and did a 2 mile hike then had a picnic lunch there. it was beautiful! so many waterfalls! then we drove up to Ashland for ice cream and to see lake superior. lake superior was cold but the kids enjoyed putting their feet in. then we headed back to the cabin. at about 7 we were going to go for a last boat ride then matt, al, cam and trev were gonna go out walleye fishing. Al went to go downstairs to plug in his phone; there was about 7 steps, a landing/turn, then 6 more steps. Al thought he was on the landing but actually had one more step down and blew out his knee. he was grunting very loudly so Matt, Jodi and I all came running. his upper half of his body was on the 2nd half of the stairs, and his legs were on the landing. he couldn't move and was in a lot of pain. with all 3 of us we were able to eventually get him upright and sitting on a step. he wanted to straighten his leg but couldn't so i looked at his knee and saw extra bumps than what should have been there. i grabbed his heal and straightened his leg and then he was in less pain (we'd find out later, he dislocated his knee, and i'd put it back while doing that.) he couldn't use his leg at all so we had to very slowly lift him up the stairs and get him into the van. the kids were kind of scared, so Matt to Al to the ER while jodi and i stayed with the kids.
At the ER they gave Al a brace that kept his knee/leg straight which helped him a lot and took a ct scan of his knee, and an xray of his elbow since he landed on his surgery arm. all looked good so they arrived back to the cabin about midnight. Al slept on the couch since he couldn't go downstairs.
sunday morning Matt and i loaded up both boats by ourselves and then we got all packed up. we had to put Al in jodi's van in the way back seat with his leg straight over the folded down middle seat, with matt, carsyn and camdyn. so jodi and chloe road with me and the kids while i pulled the boat home. we made no stops so had pizza ordered and ready for us when we got home. mom met us there too to help unpack and rearrange beds since Al couldn't get downstairs or sleep with me due to snoring and 2 braces. we put Tova's bed in Trevor's room with his, and Al's bed came up from downstairs into Tova's room.
monday morning Al had to make tons of phone calls and try to make appointments. The only same day appt was with prevea ortho at 130 so we took that so that we could get the ball rolling and get the mri's ordered. they confirmed Al dislocated his knee and told us he ruptured his patellar tendon completely off his knee cap (his knee cap was way higher than it should've been on the xrays.) we had to wait for MRI to determine if there was any damage inside the knee.
Tuesday was Al's MRI at 8am. with the elbow it was nicer because he could drive himself to the appts, now i have to drive him and he has to be in the backseat with his leg straight so we all can't fit in our car together. then trevor had soccer at 545; tova stayed home to help dada.
Due to my phone dying and me having to get these pictures off of my facebook post, they are very out of order.
