2020 :: 21/52

Al was off Monday and Tuesday. we didn't do a whole lot but got some stuff done around the house.

tuesday morning we all had dentist appointments in bloomer so we packed up after breakfast and went. al had his appointment then needed a filing fixed so I had the kids with me. I went first and tova sat on me while I was laid back in the chair. then tova went and she did way better than I expected! then trevor went. we all had no cavities!! the kids and I finished before Al so we drove a little ways to a soccer field so they could run around until Al finished. then we went to Al's co-workers house so Al could drop off a computer. they have tyler who is a year younger than trevor and McKenzie who is 3 months older than tova. the kids played in their backyard together and had so much fun!! it was so cool that they both had a peer to play with! then we picked up the best pizza and drove home for lunch. after nap trevor and al fixed our mailbox. we played outside for a bit until supper.

Al worked Wednesday and Thursday and it started getting hot and humid! the kids and I played outside, ran some errands, got school lunch, did a little mini hike, and bought trevor a used Y scooter similar to cam and Chloe's ones that he enjoys riding.

Friday was our day trip with matt, Jodi and the kids for memorial day weekend. in the morning when we were getting packed up we saw momma deer and her 2 twin fawns in our front yard so we watched them for a bit. the fawns were only like 6 days old (momma's been placing them in our neighbor's backyard while she eats during the day.) the fawns were scared to go down our curb so it took them a while to follow momma across the street. Al tried to help the one that really didn't want to go but it eventually found it's way to our driveway so it didn't have to jump the curb.

we packed up and headed towards Wausau to the eau Claire river dells. it was really cool there!! the kids loved playing on the rocks, we took the narrow trail that ran right beside the river so we had great scenery. we went the longer side first, then came back to the parking lot and picnic table area for lunch, then went the shorter side after lunch. tova and Carsyn loved the big flat rock we were on at the end that they got to get out and play on too! matt took some cool pictures with his fancy iPhone on the rock and the big kids each found a toad. we had lots of fun!!

once back in eau Claire, we unpacked, bathed (we were greasy from bug spray and tova's allergies were affecting her eyes and nose.) then matt, Jodi and the kids came over for supper and for our zoom call with sarah, derek, and Jodi (shane didn't show.) we ordered pizza for the kids and mogies for the adults. tova went to bed early since she didn't get a nap (she still won't sleep in the car) and Jodi tried to put Carsyn down in the pack n play but she wasn't having it. the big kids played video games and then watched a movie downstairs while we were on our call. carysn joined us for the call and matt slept through most of it. they headed home about 10.

mom came down on Saturday and it was supposed to rain most of the day. that combined with tova's allergies kept us inside most of the day but it was so nice out after nap that we did get out for a while. mom stayed the night Saturday night and stayed until after supper on sunday. sunday morning was filled with cribbage, fishing stuff, and playing with nana. after nap, we went outside again and turned on the sprinkler for the kids in the front after trevor tried out his new (to us) roller skates I found for him and tova scootered.

Monday was memorial day and Al worked. we ended up getting a huge storm in the morning that took out our power, had SO much rain in a short amount of time, took down tons of trees in our neighborhood, took down wired off the side of our house, and flooded our street. once it was past, the kids and I went to check out the flooded street and chatted with some of the neighbors a couple houses down. they lost 5 trees in the backyard of 2 houses, one fell over the power lines. Al stopped home quick to check the wires that fell off our house (cable and phone) and while he was home I saw smoke in the backyard. we went out to investigate and our power lines were on fire. while Al called 911, the fire got the to pole/transformer and started to spark. it ended up detaching some of the power lines and they fell down a bit over ours and the neighbor's backyards. once the fire truck with lights showed up in front of our house, all the neighbors came out and a news van so we got to explain to all of them what happened. xcel energy ended up turning our power back off at 2 pm and didn't get back here to fix ours until after 9pm. so after Al brought home supper after work, the kids and I went up to mom's to sleep. Al slept in the basement and had to work the next day so he was fine, but he said they didn't turn our power back on until 11pm. also, during the that time tova went into her room to play and when she got quiet and I went to check on her, she'd gotten into the diaper cream and spread it all over herself.
