Tova: can mostly sit up on her own, has eaten sweet potatoes, butternut squash, zucchini, oatmeal cereal and avocado, screeches often esp at her brother, smiles a lot, sophie the giraffe is her favorite toy to chomp on, she naps 3 times a day usually for about an hour, she wakes up twice to eat during the night usually 2ish and 530/6ish, still loves her baths,
Tuesday was trevor's home visit from his teachers before 4k. that morning we ran to the grocery store and I ran to aldi while Al laid trevor down for nap. trevor actually fell asleep when his teachers showed up at 230p (our time frame was 2-4p) so we had to wake him at the end of the visit. we got our paperwork and were informed a lot about the school, their day, etc. trevor was pretty shy because he was tired, but he smiled for their picture, talked a little bit and showed them his toys. it was rainy so we stayed inside the rest of the night.
Wednesday we packed up the car early and drove up to fawn-doe-rosa about 1.5 hours away. we loved it there where you get to walk around with and feed lots of animals! trevor's favorite were the chickens, Al's was petting bucks, and mine was the goats especially the one that bit a hole in our feed bag when Al wasn't paying attention. :) after fawn-doe-rosa, we drove 10 minutes south to Osceola where our good friend jenny is from. there is a cool waterfall there that you can walk right up to and behind. it was pretty loud down there and tova was ready for a nap, so we didn't stay as long as we would have liked to but it was SO cool! then we hiked back up the millions of stairs (me with an almost 19 pound baby strapped to me; uffda!) and drove home.
Thursday was Al's last day off from his week off :( it was a gorgeous day!! Tova had her 6 month appointment that morning and it was a traumatic appt for us (just me and her went.) Our pediatrician left so we had to blindly pick a different one to see so I was a bit anxious about the appt to start with. the nurse who took us back and weighed her and did her measurements had some weird movements/actions/speech and it made me uncomfortable. my already anxious mind went to thinking she was on meth but in looking back I couldn't tell if she had a disability or what (i'd hope the other nurses wouldn't allow her to be on drugs.) so it was not a great start. then the doctor came in and was ok, very knowledgeable, but tova was cranky (tired and hungry I think) & had already screamed through all the nurse doings, so I was standing holding tova while the dr talked very slowly and in a lot of depth in things I already knew. so it lasted a long time but I did request that a different nurse come in to give tova her shots (and it was the nurse we are used to seeing.) after shots once I fed tova, I got her dressed on the table, then I needed to grab the carrier to put her in so I put my hand on her but I couldn't quite reach the carrier. in the split second I went to reach it, she rolled over and off the table! :( I almost caught her before she hit the floor but I felt so bad and she screamed again. I put her in the carrier and she was good, then we got out of there as fast as we could! tova took an almost 3 hour nap after that and I got a little retail therapy in at a couple garage sales.
at 2 pm we had an HVAC guy come to see what we could do about trevor's room being so cold in the winter, and the guy was great! he explained that since our furnace is so old, it would be best and cheapest to just add another heat run to trevor's room and it would cost about $250 (not too bad.) he also gave us a rough estimate for a replacement furnace and it was quite a bit less than Al and I were expecting so that's good. they're coming back in a couple weeks to do it. then we went out to our favorite apple orchard and it was gorgeous!! we had lots of fun! then home for supper, some more outside time and bed.
Friday Al had to sleep til lunch time and the kids and I just played and did things around the house. after supper, the kids and I played in the backyard for a bit before bedtime.
Saturday morning mom came down. after tova's first nap, mom, the kids and I went shopping. we went to penney's and they had 50% their already clearanced kids clothes so we got tova a bunch of rompers and dresses and shorts for next summer for under $2 a piece and got trevor a pair of shorts and t shirts. then we quickly ran to shopko for garbage bags. home for lunch and nap/rest, after which nana and trevor spent most of the afternoon outside even tho it was very humid. I set up trevor's pool for possibly the last time this summer. I got some things done around the house including cleaning up the workshop/storage room so the hvac guys can easily get to the ducts when they come in 2 weeks.
sunday morning was just spent around the house playing with nana since it was humid and rainy all day. we went for a walk after supper when the sun was down behind most of the trees. Monday was more of the same with a walk in the morning before it got too hot/humid out and before the rain. grandpa peter stopped by while bringing another load of stuff to his house here. both nana and gpa peter left after lunch. trevor played quietly in his room for 45 minutes during nap/quiet time!!! afterwards, Al and trevor started building their bat house. it was a good family night spent together.
