Monday we played outside lots but also had lots of rest time as Trevor still had a cold. he especially didn't feel good after nap, really stuffed up, goopy eyes, and puffy face.
Tuesday morning, the speech therapist came at 820 am for the evaluation. Trevor warmed up to her quickly and he said more in front of her than I expected. at 9 am, the main birth to 3 lady came again to go over the results and what he's eligible for. he is at just over a 25% delay in speech and they have to be over 25% to be eligible for services. he has none of the speech skills for between 15-18 months, all of them for 18-21 months, and very little of the 21-24 months skills. some of the 15-18 month skills he's missing are repeating our words when we're conversing with other adults, asking questions like we've done (such as "what's that?" ex: when reading a book), using 2 words phrases, and not saying momma for everything. we decided to just do some at home exercises that the speech therapist told me and she's going to send some more brochures and hand outs of things we can do in the mail. we'll decide at 2.5 if he's progressed enough otherwise we'll do another evaluation at that time and then start services with her. the biggest thing is to play dumb and make him say more than momma or dada and pointing and grunting for what he wants, make him say what he wants.
she also said he appears to just not have much interest in oral things or enjoy or know all the things his mouth can do. which is evident in his not using a pacifier or finger/thumb sucking, and his not being interested in eating. one thing we're gonna try is to stimulate his mouth a bit more with a spiraling toothbrush since he loves to brush his teeth and a vibrating teething toy that's usually for babies but we'll let him dip in sauces and bite down on to make it vibrate. she did say he's very smart; he was doing his letter puzzle when she came and she was super impressed that he knew so many letters and could identify them (he's way ahead of the game on that one). he also can follow directions well, even coming from her, and understands language, just doesn't verbalize it (which we already knew, but good to hear it from her/let her see it).
once they left, we packed up Trevor, Cooper and Camdyn in our car and went to Carson park with Jodi, Chloe and Easton to feed the ducks, play at the park, and have a picnic lunch. Trevor loved feeding the ducks/geese, went down the huge tube slide by himself, and climbed up a big boy ladder by himself. he didn't eat great but did eat some. he was super tired but didn't fall asleep until 2 and I had to go in there to get him to sleep. then he woke up coughing and crying/whimpering just after 3. I held him for a while in hopes he'd drain but he was still coughing and couldn't breathe through his nose. I got him back to sleep but only for 5 minutes before he was up coughing/crying again. we sat in the chair in his room for a while but he didn't fall back to sleep. he was really puffy again and goopy eyes, but was up and playing after about a half hour of sitting. dada got home, we played outside with the neighb's until supper time. once we came in for supper Trevor didn't feel well; he wouldn't eat anything. I took his temp and it was 102.9 so we watched a movie and he had his "juice" and some snacks, and then an early bedtime.
Wednesday and Thursday we cold and rainy and Trevor still had a runny nose and small fevers. I contemplated many times whether I should take him in or not, but then when I was convinced i'd take him in after nap or in the morning, he'd be fine. Wednesday we ran to target to get his toothbrush and teether toy, some groceries and we scored some good after easter sales on toys and things for Trevor ($.30 for socks, $.90 for a notebook/stickers, hats, etc). We went to the neighb's for a little bit but didn't want to stay long in case Trevor has something that's contagious. Thursday Al didn't work until 11 so we hung out with him; T's nose was still really runny, his temp was at 100.3, but he seemed good except he didn't eat hardly anything all morning or for lunch. right before nap his temp was 101.4. I was convinced i'd take him in after nap but he took a good 3 hour nap without waking up crying so I didn't. the sun came out after nap so we went outside with the neighb's and jumped in puddles and drew chalk on our driveway. that night Trevor did not sleep well and I had a fever and didn't feel well. plus Al didn't get home until almost 10 pm. Trevor didn't fall asleep until just before 10 and was crying most of the time between 9 & 10 and then again between midnight and 1.
Friday morning it snowed for a half hour but then I went garage saling for a bit by myself and got home just before A left for work. I found just a couple good things: some small toys for trevor, lots of books for $.25 a piece (including some characters he likes but doesn't have books for) and a sweatshirt for him. once home, I took Trevor to urgent care (I was sick of contemplating it after a week and sick of not sleeping). I also got checked out since i'd had a sore throat for 3 days and fever the night before. Also, we had some contact with a couple kids that had strep within the last couple weeks. sure enough, Trevor had strep and a left side ear infection. he was prescribed the same meds he got exactly, to the day, one year ago for strep (crazy!), cefprozil (3.5mL 2x/day for 5 days). I had tonsillitis and exposure to strep so I got amoxicillin (Al's allergic to amoxicillin so we haven't given it to T yet). we grabbed some chicken nuggets, milk and got gas while waiting for our prescriptions, then picked them up, ate lunch and nap.
Saturday morning, it snowed a bit so we had to wait to drive up to mom's house and Trevor was really whiney! the whiniest I have ever seen him, we just couldn't help him or get things right for him. once the snow quit and melted off the roads a bit, the 3 of us headed up to mom's house. we all napped a little bit while T did and Al and I decided not to take Trevor with us to meg's house that night. it was supposed to be a family get together but after a week of sick T and especially the whiney times in the morning, I was ready for some time away. so we left T with grandma and it turned out to be a good decision. Al and I went up to meg's house and got to hang out with meg, dave, skye, ty, manda, johhny, eva, and elouise. we had yummy foods, a couple drinks, some games, lots of laughs, and we back to mom's house by 11. it was a celebration of al's new position, reason to get together party. :)
Al had started to not feel well Saturday and johnny saw red spots on his throat at meg's house, then sunday morning he didn't feel well again. we were supposed to go to shane and Jodi's house sunday afternoon for wrestlemania, but decided that Al should go in and not spread germs (especially with T still not feeling great and my throat still hurting). so we drove home and Al went to urgent care. his initial test for strep came back negative, but the doctor said his throat was bad and she was certain his 2 day would come back positive (he just came in early) so she gave him meds. we laid low sunday (Al watched wrestlemania while trevor played and I cleaned) and Monday morning (I cleaned some more). we all were still not feeling well even on Monday after T and I had been on meds for 3 days; and we really didn't sleep well sunday night. hopefully this is all gone soon!
