the weekend before we left for Alaska, little boy was scratching at his ears. so Monday we took him to urgent care; he had a small ear infection, a swollen throat, and white spots on his throat. so he got some meds.
upon arriving at the airport we learned that our flight was already delayed an hour. so instead of leaving at 540p, we didn't leave until 640p... that's a rough time for an 18 month old boy to fly. the last couple hours were rough, he was so tired. I finally got him to sleep and he woke up 20 minutes later. so I stood rocking him in the aisle for about 20 minutes and finally got him back to sleep. he then slept almost until we landed. but the good thing about that is he was so tired when we got to caddie's house, he slept all night and didn't need to adjust to the time change
the views out the car windows almost our entire drive was so beautiful
we stayed with my cousin caddie, her husband fred & their 2 boys Hudson & Carson the first 2 nights. Wednesday was rainy all day so we just played inside, went shopping and attempted a walk. Caddie & Fred made us moose burgers for supper and they were delicious! :)

we left Thursday morning for Soldotna to see Al's mom Diane, step dad Rick & his sister Molly & her husband Brook. Driving through the turnagain arm to get to Soldotna was amazing!! just outside of anchorage we had a moose cross the road right in front of our car! it was my first moose sighting and it was so cool!! the drive was awesome: mountains on both sides, ocean, animals, trees, etc. we stopped at almost every pull off point along the way so take pictures and be able to enjoy all the beauty! we even saw a mountain goat or dall sheep on a cliff pretty close to the bottom of the mountain, but we weren't able to stop because there were too many people already stopped.
we had clouds at first and were worried we wouldn't be able to see the tops of the mountains, but luckily it quickly cleared up and stayed that way for the rest of our trip! we lucked out with the weather!
we stopped at the wildlife refuge at girdwood.
we saw moose.
cute baby moose
black bears & brown bears
elk
and caribou (and some other smaller animals too)
lunch at cooper's landing, with mountains in the background
the color of the kenai river was gorgeous! a bright teal/aqua
we first stopped at Rick & Diane's house and set up Trevor's bed, then we drove the 45 minutes to Molly's house for a bbq. Al's cousin's corey & Jeremy were in Alaska then too so they came over for the bbq.
corey and Jeremy were up fishing in Alaska too, so we got to see them
auntie molly and uncle brook's buggy!
below are the pictures taken with the nice camera, so they'll start from the beginning again.
