trevor :: 49th week

1/13/15

trevor: drank a little bit out of a cup without a top on it, tried mandarin oranges & I don't think they sat well with his tummy so we'll hold off on citrus for a while yet, bumps his head lots, crawls under things now, eats breakfast now but is not a fan of eggs, tried to say juice after me and now says the "c"/"s" sound lots (possibly for yes?), nursing for less and less time each session :(, says num num while eating, dances lots, tried cucumber, likes to crawl over things like couch cushions, obsessed with playing in the dog kennel, likes to put things on shelves while standing,

-----------------------------------

it was super cold this week so we stayed inside, most of the time in our pajamas, other than a trip to target. I worked on making things for his birthday party. Al worked on staying warm while at work. trevor worked on balance while upright, crawling over & under things, and discovering every inch of our house.

I thought Trevor was eating a ton of food but after writing it down and measuring it out, he's eating within the spectrum for his age. but he is on the higher end. :) he eats finger foods first and does great, especially if he likes something. but gets bored of it easily, so we still do at least 2 purees in between and/or at the end to ensure he gets enough. it also gives him a little break on the finger foods so that he'll usually go back to it. I have trouble getting him to like veggies as finger foods, so I make sure at least one of his purees is veggies- usually squash or sweet potatoes. I've started cutting back the amount of cereal I mix in with his purees in hopes that he'll eat more finger foods if he needs more food and not be relying on my spoon feeding him for calories (although I don't mind feeding him).

trevor's schedule as of now:

-wake anywhere from 230-6: nurse
-wake up for the day: 7ish by 8 for sure (we just cut out a nursing session here and replaced it with breakfast)
-breakfast about 8
-snack: nurse about 10
-nap exactly 3 hours after waking (1-1.5 hours)
-up by 1230, usually not earlier than 1130
-lunch almost right away after waking
-snack: nurse about 230
-nap exactly 3 hours after waking (1-1.5 hours)
-up by 430
-dinner about 5 (daddy eats with us since he has to get ready for work starting at 520ish)
-bedtime routine starts at 7: every other day bath, books, nurse, walk around & sing, sleep sack, noise machine on, then I walk him around his room singing 'you are my sunshine' for a while. hopefully sleeping about 730. if he isn't sleeping by 8, he'll have a rougher night sleeping, will wake up earlier to nurse, and will wake up earlier in the morning.
he crawled under his jumper to get to this little nook
 just playing under his jumper
 got in on his own accord
 playing fort with daddy using his playmat

 he got a rocking musical dragon from auntie althea!
 he loved lasagna! gobbled half a piece right up
 he's a climber
 putting his balls at the back of the shelf
"off roading" on couch cushions

 his dismount consists of face planting

2015 :: motherhood

I was going to make a whole goal list again for this year, but I don't feel like that is where i'm at in this point in time. So instead I am going to set some focus resolutions, if you will, with the main word being motherhood.

obviously, this is an easy choice as i'm smack dab in the middle of it already, but I want to focus on those things that I want Trevor to be able to look back on and say or know that his mom did.

my first focus is to meal plan. I want us to eat healthy and I want to provide Trevor with all the nutrients and healthy eating habits that I can. but I also don't want to be a stickler and not give him those tasty treats. with Trevor able to eat just about everything now (and should be able to eat anything in a month, at a year) I don't feel like I have a handle on feeding us all as a family. We seem to eat a lot of the same things, and I want him to have a large variety of foods and spices to try. so I have been pinning and pulling recipes for a bit (crockpot recipes mostly) and I hope to meal plan 3 meals a week (we love leftovers). like write them in my planner, buy the groceries all in one trip and then make them!

secondly, i'd like to get back into being me. I can count on one hand the amount of times I've done my hair or put on any makeup unless we were actually going somewhere & seeing people since trevor was born. I consistently see myself in the mirror or a picture and my hair is crazy, my face is tired, and my wardrobe is sloppy. and while that's ok as a new mom especially a stay at home mom, I want to break out of that this year and start feeling like an actual person again. I want to wear all my clothes (now that I've gotten rid of a TON of clothes I didn't wear) not just what's easy to nurse in. I want to do something with my hair not just throw it up wet into a ponytail. I want to make my face look awake. once the softball season starts, i'll feel more like me because that's something I do for me and me alone!

thirdly, I want to be in shape. a usual resolution, I know, but I want to be able to do anything trevor or I want to do no matter what. this includes beach trips, long bike rides or hikes, playing at the park for hours, etc. and I want to be able to do these confidently and have the energy/stamina for it.

fourth, I want to better my relationship with Al. I read something along the lines of a child really reacts to the way their parents interact. I've really worked on my nagging (and figured out how I can get Al to do things or help without having to sigh heavily or persuade him to) but I want everything that comes out of my mouth and my actions to uplift Al. always. my auntie diane was great with this, with all people, and i'm hoping to emulate her. and hopefully starting with Al will then translate into other people as well.

fifth, I want to show compassion to everyone. I want to lead by example. especially: love, kindness, respect. be a better person.

2015 we are ready for you and so very hopeful that you will be better for all of us than 2014. we're also hopeful that 2015 stays within oleson status quo and contains a move and job change.... if not, we'll be ok, but this momma is ready to be able to settle down, create a home, and be closer to our people.

trevor :: 48th week / 11 months / new year

1/6/15
i'm not sure where that double chin came from but it's cute! :)
1/4/15
 this is the one I really wanted to use, but it's blurry.

trevor: likes to crawl or walk around with a toy in each hand: it makes crawling difficult if the toys are decent sized & pulling to standing a challenge but he does it and loves it, he likes to feed me things like his fake food and then copy and eat it himself, he also likes when I hold whatever it is in my mouth and he can let go & then take it back, he does a little bit of a butt scoot if he only has a small way to go or wants to turn around, opened his first kitchen cupboard & played with it's contents (causing momma to go over all her inside cupboard baby proofing again), lowers himself from standing with control, loves to take things out of things, wants something in each hand always, did a couple small tantrum type moves of putting his face into the carpet and whining when he was upset with something, can pick up a pea with just his first finger and thumb without bringing it against the side of the high chair tray, chewed on the top of his crib, found the mole on my face and pokes at it, plays peekaboo on his own: will put a blanket over his face then after I say "where's Trevor" a couple times will pull it down and smile, crawled over to and played with (kind of) the other kids at the neighbor's daycare, has a rough time falling asleep especially at night; thinking it's because of all the developmental milestones which the size of this paragraph this week helps conclude that

------------------------------

Al worked new year's eve (3p-3a) so we just had a normal night. Trevor had been extra whiney the day of and the day before so we didn't do much other than play, hang out and sleep. well, I had a bit of champagne that mom left me once I was done feeding him for the night.

Al ended his 7 day work week on Friday and it was a long week of work for all of us. Trevor didn't sleep well Thursday night and seemed to maybe not feel well; he sounded a little congested. Friday we ran to menards since we had a 15% off bag and didn't get some of the toys for T we'd asked for from there. the only ones we found were his medium sized Tonka trucks/machines (plastic) and i'm so happy! I really wanted those for him since they're smaller and my brother loved 'chines.

we've been rearranging things in the living room all week trying to figure out what works best since Trevor is so mobile and gets into everything. I finally had to put the board books up on a higher shelf because he would just chew on them and it was starting to wreck them.

Saturday Al drove to Wausau to pick up beeker; Peter had him since the Tuesday before Christmas to help us out. it was so nice not having to worry about him for a while although there still was dog hair everywhere!!

Sunday and Monday were super cold so we just hung out; also because Al had off and there were lots of things that Trevor recently did for the first time that Al hadn't seen yet. so fun to watch him learn new things and mimic us! sunday Trevor got his first (minor) bump/bruise: he was pulling himself up to standing using one of the kitchen chairs and pulled backwards a bit too much so that it lost it's balance and fell over on him. he was pretty scared but the forehead bump/bruise wasn't much and went away the next day.

Tuesday was freezing too and it looks to continue for a while. we went over to the neighb's house to play and borrow some of their leather soled shoes for when Trevor starts walking. I couldn't find any decent ones I liked for cheap and theirs have whales and footballs on em & are super cute! Trevor did great with the kids and by himself. he hasn't really played with other kids yet and a couple times over there he crawled to where the kids were, sat by them and played with what they were playing with! also, a couple times kids took what he was holding on to and he was just fine. i'm sure that will change eventually, but i'm so proud of him!!

after his morning nap on Tuesday, I saw some scrapes on the top rail of his crib where he had been chewing while standing up. there are a couple indents elsewhere, but he only got paint off in that one spot. so I ran to joann to get some fleece to make covers for them. I washed the fleece during the day and cut the slits (made like one of those fleece tie blankets) after he fell asleep at night. hopefully it helps.

Trevor did not fall asleep very good Saturday-Monday night; he would get close to sleep and then start really crying. rinse and repeat many times for anywhere from 45 minutes to an hour. we'd go in there and he'd be content and asleep in our arms but not in his crib. Tuesday night I walked him around a while longer than usual and he fell asleep in my arms, when I put him in his crib he was out. but i'm thinking he was just so tired from missing out on sleep and taking a while to fall asleep for 3 days (naps took a while too so they'd only be about an hour long and i'd have to wake him up). we'll see how next week goes. (poor Al thinks it's because he was here on those nights that Trevor wouldn't go to sleep)

I can't believe there's only 1 month until his first birthday; so crazy! it's gone so fast! and I've started getting very nostalgic about it and being saddened by the fact that I will never get this time with him back nor will he be little forever. my goal is to take more videos of him so I can look back at them and so he can see how he was. he's so cute; I don't want him to ever grow up!!

trevor :: 47th week

12/30/14

trevor: waves (well, puts hand up and moves it just a little bit), drooling lots (possibly molars moving), got 8th tooth (finally!), pulls himself to standing on just about anything, loves to walk while holding fingers, comes to me when I say come here and hold my hands out, climbed the stairs by himself at Sheryl & Wayne's house for Christmas,

---------------------------------
this was a very busy week for us with all the Christmas's. we were home only one night for about 12 hours.

Tuesday we went to Wausau for a small Christmas with Al's family at Peter & Althea's house. Wendy, Keith, Casey, Wanda, and Jesse came over. we had food, snacks, laughs and some present opening. We headed for home about 730 pm, Trevor's bedtime, and knew he was either going to scream the whole way home (since he doesn't like being in the car when it's dark) or sleep the whole way. thankfully, he slept the whole way! We left Beeker with grandpa Peter since Al had to work 7 days in a row coming up (changing rotation) and 2 of them were 12 hour shifts.

then bright and early Wednesday morning we drove to mom's house to meet Darrell, Molly, and Sara at mom's for them to meet Trevor before they went to Papa's house. they loved Trevor and he them. we let Trevor get in a good afternoon nap before we headed over to Papa's house for dad's side Christmas. people there: papa, dad, tyler, lynne, cindy, aryn, Anderson, juli, tom, and Darrell was there for a little bit. we played ping pong and ate. then at bedtime, we took Trevor back to mom's to sleep and Al & I headed back for some more games & ping pong. it was fun and full of laughs as usual.

Thursday was Christmas Day and we spent the day inside at mom's opening presents, eating, and playing cards during nap time and after bedtime. it was a great Christmas day and trevor got lots of gifts from mom and uncle tyler.

Friday Al headed home in the afternoon before the snow and so he could get some sleep and stuff done before work on Saturday. we ran some errands and played with new toys.

Saturday was the Nesset Christmas at Sheryl and Wayne's house in Maple Grove. we mom's around 2 so Trevor would take his nap in the car on the way there. People there: wayne, Sheryl, Kayli, travis, ryan, mom, tyler, grama, judie, jim, maren, nick, tula, kai, Ron, polly, and marlene. we chatted, ate, opened presents and before we knew it, it was bed time and time for us to head out. trevor again did great with everyone and slept the whole way home to mom's house.

sunday was a lazy day: we watched the Vikings game and then the packer game in which they showed aaron Rodgers tugging on Al's cousin Jeremy's beard! he became famous after that! :) Mom went back to Maple Grove to see grama.

Monday Trevor and I went over to manda's house to watch her girls during the day. it was a great day and very easy for me since Eva is such a big help! she knew everything I had questions on! can't believe that girl will be five on Wednesday!! Elouise had a little bit of a cold so we tried to keep germs at bay and wash up a lot. Eva loved playing with and holding Trevor, and El loved saying Bay-bee. :) Trevor went down for naps so easy that day; out in 10 minutes!

then Tuesday after lunch we headed back home to Eau Claire with a packed vehicle. it got super cold Tuesday.
