trevor :: 31st week / 7 months

9/9/14
9/4/14
i put my son in a packers shirt...
i apologized to him as he tried to pull it off :)

trevor: pulled off a sock for the first time and likes to do it often now, likes to play with his little dump truck, tried and likes green beans (from the farmers market), does not like his patch & ripped it off once

----------------------------
wednesday al had off and we were busy running errands and trying to get stuff done. we sold our non-working dryer to a guy who fixes them, bought a new (to us) dryer out of menomonie, picked up trevor's quilt that i made, went to the bank, among other things. so we got our garage cleared out and our new dryer in and working! it was so good to be able to do laundry and walk in our garage. al got the file cabinet in, his computer hooked up, and the curtains hung.

thursday was trevor's 7 month birthday and the first regular season game for the nfl, which just so happened to be the packer game. i didn't want to but did dress him in a packer onesie for his daddy and since they didn't play on the same day as the vikings. we went to red lobster to use the rest of our gift card since it was endless shrimp! it was not as good as we remembered or wanted it to be, but trevor did great and of course was a hit! then we went to the grocery store where, in his packer shirt and football socks, he was an even bigger hit! we watched the game at our neighbor's, jodi & matt's, house next door and had dinner with them. well, trevor and i only saw a little bit of the game before bedtime and i think i waited too long to put him down because he had trouble falling asleep.

the weekend was nice and relaxed for trevor and i, but al had to work a ton! we went to the farmers market on saturday, we took a couple of walks, unpacked/organized more, cleaned, etc. and saturday night he finally slept through the night again: 830p-6a.

monday all 3 of us went up to the cities so al could watch trevor while i played softball since mom was on her cruise. it was the first night of fall ball (al will be watching trevor for 4 of the 5 nights of fall ball since mom bowls on monday nights; thank goodness for him!) and that meant double headers. there are only 6 teams this year so we play the same team both games. the first game was almost a tie but the ump let us play another inning since we could take that time out of our next game, and we ended up scoring 8 runs and winning! we won the 2nd as well. i didn't hit worth crap and bruised my thumb but it was fun and nice that the weather is cooling off!

tuesday we went back to bloomer once both al and trevor were awake since al had to work (his friday).

 i got trevor's quilt back from the quilting lady and it's so cool!! footballs, baseballs and stars
 the front i made from fabric from our wedding!

 little long john outfit, so cute!
 my favorite! i love when he sleeps on my shoulder
 he loves to make noise, lots of noise, shaking toys now :)
 of course had to represent the vikings on sunday!! pj's and all!

trevor :: 30th week

9/2/14
 raccoon ears, alaska socks from grandma diane :)

trevor: sits up on his own every day especially when looking at toys, still falls over eventually but getting stronger, very fussy the end of this week (teething, moving, separation anxiety?)

-----------------------
wednesday was moving day and also an extra sad day for us as while we were packing up in bloomer, our beloved dog, tator tot, was hit by a car and killed. :( we were already sad to leave that house, bloomer and the cats, and then we also had to leave our tator there. we love that dog so, so much!

the greeder bunch came down with their truck and trailer to help us, and we got it all in one load! the new place is larger than i originally thought so that's good. and although we're really heart broken over the loss of tator, we're slowly unpacking and making it home. a larger new chapter in our lives than we thought and it's definitely going to take some getting used to.

we live right next to our friends matt & jodi and their 2 kids and 2 dogs now (we share a yard with them), so wednesday night we went to their place for a beer and to watch some tv. it was good to have some distractions and let trevor get tired out from watching their kiddos play.

thursday and friday were really tough days for us but we tried to distract ourselves by unpacking, running errands, and getting some stuff done. trevor had been off schedule for multiple days so he was pretty fussy and not such a good sleeper, but we'll get back on routine and try some sleep training again if necessary.

friday al had to go back to work and had to work 12 hour shifts then and saturday (labor day weekend). saturday mom came down and we went and cleaned the bloomer house. it only took us a couple hours so that was good. it was really hard to say goodbye to that house and to tator and the cats!! mom helped me organize the new place, get the garage settled so we could get the explorer in it, and unpack a bunch more stuff. it was great to have her here but sad to see her go on sunday as there was no softball this week and she left for her cruise the next weekend. which meant we wouldn't see her again for 15 days. :(

sunday i made trevor some more baby food since he was just about out and out of his favorite, sweet potatoes. monday we actually got more than an hour awake with al! we spent some time outside since trevor was pretty fussy (he loves being outside and isn't fussy when out there). matt & jodi came to chat and jodi mowed our lawn with theirs! then later when al was getting ready for work and trevor was still fussy, we went for a walk with matt and the kids. after that trevor was less fussy. tuesday was al's friday (thank goodness! long week) and we were both hurting, physically and mentally/emotionally so we didn't do a whole lot.

not many pictures this week due to so much going on.
fussy baby wants to be held all the time,
so we tried our ring sling like this for the first time and loved it!
 he's been sleeping like this a lot lately:

trevor :: 29th week

8/26/14

trevor: sat up on his own, drank a tiny bit of water out of a sippy cup but chokes if i don't pull it away for him, laughs a lot, loves to pound a toy against something to make noise: spoon against high chair, toy against another toy, etc., started patching his eye for an hour a day to hopefully help his crossed eye

-----------------------
wednesday we drove to marshfield (1 hr 45 min) to see the pediatric eye doctor for trevor's crossed eye (the left one). trevor did great even when he got tired. the doctor checked lots of things with lots of toys and lights, and dilated trevor's eyes at the end. he said everything looks good with his eyes and since it's not crossed all the time, he's not too concerned at this time. trevor will either out grow it or if it becomes crossed all the time, he may need surgery to fix it. we will buy some eye patch pad things at a pharmacy and patch his good, right eye for an hour a day in hopes of strengthening the left one out of being crossed. it seemed a little silly that we had to drive all the way to marshfield for that, that an eye doctor in eau claire should have been able to do that, but it sounds like it's just because he's so young. we have a followup scheduled for 9 months.

the weekend was hot and humid and involved a lot more packing as this is our last week in this house. trevor drooled a TON on friday, more than usual, and didn't sleep well that night (up at 830, 930, 1030 where i fed him and gave him tylenol, then was up crying from 5 (fed) to just after 7 am, and up at 820), so he may be teething.

this weekend trevor sat up by himself! he only will for maybe 30 seconds and then he'll lean on me, but he will do that several times. i have him sit inbetween my legs so he has some support. he's done great with keeping himself up right when leaning; won't be long before he's fully sitting by himself.

monday night we had our last summer league softball game and we beat the team that beat us pretty bad! trevor did great at my mom's, although i have trouble sleeping in the same room as him because i hear his every move and i try not to move much so i don't wake him. with or without that, i'm still not sleeping well. hoping my sleep comes back to me soon!

we went back to bloomer on tuesday and it was our last drive to bloomer from mom's. :( then once al was awake we ran into eau claire to pick up our keys to the new place, bring a load of stuff down, and pick up a few things at the store. then we had a lot to do before moving the next day (wednesday).

i got my period back this week :( it was a sad day but i'm thankful for the 16 months without it! al asked if that meant i wouldn't produce breast milk anymore :) i also have a case of the baby bangs going on, where my very front hairs are starting to grow back in and they're like an inch long and look a little awkward. i'm looking forward to my hair hopefully going back to normal. i had to cut 5 inches off it this week too since it got super long without my realizing it since i only wear it up now. i was having a hard time dealing with the length even in a ponytail so it was time.

 squishy, sleepy face
this is the face i got when i wiped his drool while he was sleeping :)

trevor :: 28th week

8/19/14

trevor: loves being in his backpack carrier or facing outward in the baby bjorn so he can see, loves being outside, warmed up to peas, just fits in 6 month clothes length-wise, any clothes that are wide are too loose/big on him, loves looking at the remote

--------------------

this week was mostly about packing, cleaning and enjoying this house while we're still here, especially since mom left friday for colorado for a week.

on wednesday we went for a family walk in the back corn fields for trevor's first time. he was in his backpack carrier and he loved it!! that boy loves to be outside!

sunday trevor and i went to the little grocery store in bloomer and i wore him facing out in the baby bjorn. he was a hit! lots of people commented and talked to him! :)

monday al came up with us to the cities for softball since mom was in co. we won and the weather was too iffy for trevor so they stayed at mom's. then tuesday we went home to bloomer. our last week in bloomer at this house... :/

we're still working on his sitting up, but he loves to stand. he eats baby food of some sort every night, unless we're busy. his poop is really stinky now, although he never seems to poop when al is around or awake so he hasn't smelled it yet.

trevor :: 27th week

7/12/14

trevor: slept through the night for the first time (12 hours) for 2 nights, then slept 12 hours with waking once about 430a for about an hour the rest of the nights, stayed in a seated position by himself for 5-10 seconds a couple of times, pulls his own hair, is getting bored of just being on the floor on his back or tummy, always sleeps on his tummy now, just about done with the chiropractor, poop is really stinky now since he's eating food, too big for 3 month clothes and just fits in 6 month clothes, size 2 diapers still, laughs often now, is ticklish on his tummy and sides, when he's done eating his baby food he loves to play with the spoon and a cup mostly just to chomp on them but it's good practice, took bottle eventually from my mom

------------------

wednesday was his 6 month appointment and we finally got our doctor back (from maternity leave); we were so glad to see her! he is 16 lbs 12 oz (up over a pound from his appt 3 weeks ago!) and 26.5 inches long. his weight is now up to the 40th percentile and his height is down to the 50th percentile. his head circumference is in the 80th percentile; lots of brains dr sarumi says. :) everything's great with him except we do need to go see the eye doctor for his crossed eye(s) or 'turned in' is the technical term at his young age. she helped solidfy that our sleep training efforts are good, normal and what should be happening. she wasn't concerned that he isn't sitting up on his own yet and loved that he is so strong when standing.

wednesday night, after just 2 days of ferber method sleep training, he slept through the night for the first time!!! 730p-730a! he only had a couple of little fusses but went right back to sleep after. i didn't get nearly that much sleep as i was constantly checking if he was still breathing :) but i was definitely more rested that morning! it also gave me a chance to pump a bottles worth due to being really full that morning. a win all around!

he also slept mostly through the night on thursday night, just waking crying at 630am, so i fed him and put him back down. then he slept until 730. i'll definitely take that! it also gave me the chance to get up and have some quiet, alone time in the morning as i wasn't able to fall back asleep after feeding him. i really think the earlier bed time, timing out his naps and bedtime instead of waiting for his tired cues, and the ferber method of sleep training did the job. but also feeding him some food (cereal or veggies) at night, chiro appts helping out his gas, and adjusting him to not nursing to sleep help as well.

his current schedule: 1st nap within 2 hours of waking, the nap is usually 1-1.5 hours, then awake for 3 hours, 2nd nap which is usually 2 hours or more, this hopefully puts him awake after 4 so that he's awake for 3 hours and in bed at 7 or after (whatever the 3 hours of awake time indicates, it's been about 730 lately). we haven't had to do him being awake before 4 from his 2nd nap yet since sleep training, but i'm assuming we'd give him a cat nap at 6ish then bed at 8? or maybe just bed anytime after 6, although that could mean waking for the next day at 6 which i wouldn't be very fond of. we'll have to see. also, when he sleeps through the night, i try to feed him every 2 hours during the day if he's awake so that he still gets in at 6 feedings each day.

this weekend was a busy one for me and the most i've been away from trevor. saturday i played on my brother's reigning champs team in the mud volleyball tournament in bloomer. it was tyler, me, my cousin aryn, her husband tyler, my brother's ex-girl friend/friend ashley and tyler's friend dan. we ended up winning it again after going into the loser's bracket and having to beat the team that beat us twice. they didn't time out the matches very well and we ended up playing until 9 pm and in the dark, but we beat them 4 games in a row to win. i rushed home to relieve mom as she wanted to head home. so we packed her vehicle full of the awkward sized stuff that needed to go to her house quickly and off she went. i then showered and went to bed at 11, only to be woken up by trevor at 430-530 then had to get up at 6 and on the road by 7.

while mom was watching him on saturday she had a little trouble getting him to take a bottle. the couple nights he had slept through the night, i was able to pump some so i had some milk for mom to feed him but we also have some formula. she tried to give him a bottle on his scheduled time (al was there helping too, before work) and he would have nothing to do with it. he cried and pushed it away. it scared me because the next day i was going to be canoeing on the river and not able to feed him. luckily, a couple hours later she was able to get him to take a bottle; we were hoping he just wasn't hungry enough the first time. and he ended up eating just fine out of the bottle on sunday for mom.

sunday mom babysat trevor again while i canoed the st croix river with some of my friends. it was manda and me in one canoe and meg and her friend shannon in the other. it was a blast and a gorgeous day! we stopped 3 times: once to explore a waterfall we heard, once for lunch and once right before the end to swim. meg's parents and shannon both had a canoe and the greeders have an inclosed trailer that fit the canoes so we left manda's car at o'brien and drove the suburban + trailer up to osceola and launched from there. the river was beautiful and there weren't a lot of people up in that area. i hope we can do it again soon!

monday i took trevor back to the chiro and she barely had to adjust him so it's sticking! then we had softball at 6 pm, we ended up tying but it was a beautiful night for ball. trevor and i headed back to bloomer early tuesday morning since al was off tuesday and wednesday. that was the last mom saw of trevor for almost 2 weeks since she's off to colorado with her golf friends on saturday for a week. it'll be weird going that long with seeing her, she's seen trevor once a week since he was born.
