ole schnikees: 2018

Tova: she's almost 3 months old already! she still only eats for about 7 minutes at a time but has great cheeks, thighs, and rolls. she used her legs to roll to her side this week but doesn't seem too interested in rolling over. she only likes tummy time for a little bit, but holds her head up pretty well for a while when being held upright (unless she's tired.) she goes to sleep pretty quickly in her swaddle now but since she's getting close to rolling and often gets her hands/arms out of the swaddle we're trying to transition out of it. she's a thumb sucker though so it's confusing for her to have her hand/thumb free while sleeping, we'll see how it goes. Tova had a few nights last week that she only woke up once but none this week. she had a couple days of 20 minute naps this week which was rough. she's still a good pooper and blows out daily, sometimes multiple times. :) she has started to get bored if she sits/lays in one spot for too long.

i feel like i'm struggling with this whole mom of 2 thing especially with Al's dumb schedule!! i have no idea where the mornings go, before i know it, it's noon and i have barely got anything done and feel like I've not spent much time with the kids. i'm hoping i can find a bit of a routine and sanity in all the chaos.

Al worked Monday and Tuesday 3p-3a. Monday was cloudy and a bit chilly and trevor had a runny nose and funny voice, so we just stayed in and got things done and relaxed.

Tuesday morning we went to the children's museum with Jodi, chloe and graham. i had tova in the carrier and she slept the whole time! trevor had fun and was a good listener but was pretty tired afterwards (i think from his little cold mostly.) so we had lunch and he took a nap. after nap, we went for a good long walk since the weather was still pretty nice and i knew it was gonna get hot for the weekend. we did a new loop and found lots of lilacs to smell! trevor didn't want to walk much and we stopped at the little park near our house on the way back, and he took rests on the playground in the middle of playing (still that dang stuffy nose/cold possibly, but he did have a tummy ache that evening). so we just went home and had a lazy night. some things in our garden are coming up! even though the squirrels destroyed it with their hole digging including stealing one of my cucumber & pepper starter plants... darn squirrels, but hopefully we still get a lot to come up.

Wednesday the kids were still stuffed up so we just got stuff done around the house including mowing the lawn, some weeding, and cleaning.

Thursday morning grama DD and grandpa Rick came down for the day. it was super hot and humid all weekend! we hung out in the morning and then at lunch time, diane and i went garage saling. trevor fell asleep early so we got him up after the usual hour and then we went outside for most of the afternoon. trevor played in his pool and we were able to sit at the table in the shade. tova spent a little time on the porch with me/us but she got pretty hot so we went back in. we had a grill out for supper including corn on the cob, burgers from our 1/2 cow (local) that we split with matt and Jodi, watermelon and salad; it was delicious!!

Friday was rainy off and on and really hot and humid so we just stayed in & played. at nap time, i ran some errands and Al worked at 5p-5a (he worked Fri-Sunday and it was memorial day weekend.)

Saturday morning mom came down. it was really hot all weekend so we didn't do a whole lot outside but did get outside for bits each day (not Tova.) i was able to get a bunch of things done around the house and we had some play time.

tyler came down on sunday to play but before he got here, we took a short walk in the morning. it was tova's first time in the jogging stroller as that's much cooler for her than in her carseat, but it was already pretty hot out so we didn't make it very far. then we weeded, played, and planted a bit in the shaded front before going in to escape the heat. after nap, trevor and tyler ran through the sprinkler for a bit. i made and grilled some us some hamburgers for supper since Al had to work at 5.

Monday was memorial day and mom left just after 10. Al had off but we didn't do much other than garage sale prep since it was the hottest day.
