on Friday, we all headed to the cities in both vehicles for a get-together for Luke's first birthday. we stopped at mom's and let Trevor nap, then stopped at Gina's house to pick up the camera she's renting me for Alaska. it was fun to see Cal and Trevor play together now that they're both mobile and more aware. then Matt, Gina and Cal accompanied us to the water park in apple valley where we met Shane, Jodi and Luke, Sarah & Derek, and Shane's sister and her family. it was a fun water park and so cool to see all 3 boys (who are all within 6 months of each other) and see Trevor love the water. I even got him to kick in the water! the adults took turns watching babies and going down water slides too! we also tried out the lazy river with the boys. it was a fun time!
Al headed home Friday night to work his last 3 days before Alaska! on Saturday mom, trevor and I went to new Belgium's tour de fat beer & bike festival in Minneapolis. we met angi, judie & ruby there and later, uncle jimmy, maren and tula. we also got to chat with my cousin travis who works for new belguim (he's pretty high up) in Colorado who came up for this. it was hot & humid but it was fun! we kept to the shade mostly with the kiddos so it wasn't as hot. we saw a short kids show, had some nummy beer, saw the bike parade & lots of costumes, and headed back to mom's about 130 (well after nap time).
sunday we ran some errands, played on a play ground, and trevor swam in his pool in grama's backyard. he got bit by some tiny black bugs while at the playground and bled and got pretty red from them, but luckily they didn't swell. I had softball at 8 sunday night and we almost beat the really good team; I hit well and it was super humid. Monday morning, T and I came home to do laundry and pack. for the past couple days, I noticed T had been scratching at his ears when going to bed and in bed, and he had been waking up crying during his sleep & naps. so I called the nurses line and especially since we were flying the next day, they suggested having his ears checked out. so T and I went to urgent care while Al kept the laundry going and packed before his last day of work. Trevor ended up having a small ear infection in one ear, swollen tonsils & white spots on one side of his throat. they gave him some meds so we started it that night.
