just a lil tidbit

a facebook acquaintance of mine posted the following very helpful information :) i'll be sure to test it out next time...
Hung over? Choose asparagus. When South Korean researchers exposed a group of human liver cells to asparagus extract, it suppressed free radicals and more than doubled the activity of two enzymes that metabolize alcohol. That means you'll feel like yourself again twice as quickly.

2nd sew project

here is the second project i made for my sewing class. a drawstring gift bag with 2 fabrics.

it was a little time consuming, especially in the measuring and cutting departments but it's very cool and with some practice could become a quick project.
i've only done one more project after this one (which reminds me i still need to photograph it) and then i haven't kept up. but i figure i'll have plenty of time come winter and snow (and i'm hoping that comes soon, this humidity is no fun!!)

target field

in july, i finally got out to see our new outdoor baseball stadium for the minnesota twins!! not only is the stadium beautiful, but i got to take it in girl's night style with some of my softball buddies! it was a blast (although we did standing room only tickets in an effort to be cheap, and it was TOO much standing!!). we got to walk around and take in different angles of the stadium. and the twins won!!! great times!! oh and we got interviewed to be on japanese tv in tokyo.
the field/stadium truely is beautiful!!

sew sew

there are some very crafty ladies that have awesome blogs that i follow. (here and here) a while ago 2 of them posted about an online sewing class they were offering. i have really wanted to be able to sew well for as long as i remember and know how to do multiple things with a sewing machine. i pondered the class and decided against it. well, it just would not leave my head; i dreamed about the class and all i could accomplish after learning so many new things... then i say the last call for the class and decided i just needed to do it. i really really wanted to and i could do it at my own pace for up to a year.

so i signed up for the class, and began reading the beginning posts. i just kept getting more and more excited!!! after printing the supplies list, going through my current sewing objects and cutting coupons for joanne fabrics, i was ready to start stocking up and preparing to start. after 2 trips to joanne, some cleaning out of a craft closet, and reading over the beginning blog posts i finally began the first project tonight!!!

first up: cloth napkins (2 sided) here is my first one and i love it!! i still need to iron it and figure out how i'm going to close it. (the blog post calls for ric-rac or some kind of fancy edging but the ric rac was too expensive for my taste.) so i don't need to do the edging like the post calls for but i may do it any way...

polka dots and...

stripes!!!

i ended up making 3 tonight (thinking i'll eventually make either 4 or 8 total) but the cutting is what took the longest; having to measure the lengths and square up the corners... so perhaps i'll move on to the next project and come back for more at a later time.

a quick snap shot of my work station and tools. some off brand sewing machine and a cute little sewing cubby filled with a bunch of great and handy tools!!

beautiful rivers everywhere up there

birch trees are pretty much my favorite!!

baby's turn 1!!

well once again it's been a long time since a blog post but this one's a good one :) at the beginning of may the twins turned one!! i can't believe they're that old already. i hit up the dollar store for some supplies and threw them a small party. they enjoyed the balloons. until they popped. :) they are getting so big and like real little people.

kyle smiles - more

i was lucky enough to again get to watch/play with kyle. he's so smiley and so frickin cute!! i got to snap pictures of him outdoors this time (which is great; i definitely need natural light when i shoot) and i feel good about the pictures i got of him this time. i feel as if they are really him and his smile!!he would go above this bar and say "cheese" then would go below it and "cheese." back and forth many times! it was so cute and hilarious!!

this is his big cheese face; you can see the emphasis on the "eee's" in his eyebrows :) and you can see his alfalfa hair sticking up
such a happy boy!!
he is so easy to watch and so fun to play with, especially for a little boy! he's very ticklish and loves to play with trucks and blocks. he's very particular in his block building but then loves to knock them down as well! such a good boy!!!
