2023 :: 34/52

 Wednesday i had cam, chloe and carsyn and still have to do my payroll job for a couple hours each day. i worked out at 430.

thursday i had a work meeting at 930, it was tova's kindergarten orientation 4-5p, and trevor had football practice. Pat and cameron from school & the gym picked trev up then tova and i went after orientation to pick trev up. i also started having pink eye this day but didn't know it yet.

friday i woke up with my eyes really swollen and goopy. tova had her tonsil surgery follow up at 8am so i took her to that and once her short appointment was over, i went to the urgent care that was at the same place for my eyes. i got drops for me and then got another set of drops for if the kids got it since it was almost the weekend and tova had laid in bed with me, and because we were heading to the cabin. i had to help matt switch out cars since jodi was gone at volleyball and he needed the van to pull their boat. then the kids and i packed up and headed to mom's house then to uncle jimmy's cabin with maren and the girls too. I had people lined up to take care of Al and feed him: matt, gpa peter, grama DD & grandpa rick stayed the night saturday night. matt and jodi got Al out of the house and over to theirs for a couple meals, gma DD & gpa rick brought a bunch of food for us, and Al did great. we had fun at the cabin!

we didn't come home until monday morning. i had to work a few hours once home, trev ended up with pink eye so had to miss his first soccer practice. but he was the only other person to get it.

tuesday was trev's first flag football game at the same football field Al used to play of for the predators. :)

2023 :: 33/52

 wednesday trev got to go to liam's birthday party at his house. it was just trev but they had lots of fun.

thursday Al had lots of appointments. gpa peter came over for the early ones; Al had follow ups with the surgeon for both his knee & elbow and OT for his elbow. I went with him so I could hear it all and wheel him around. then jackie came over for the afternoon PT appointment that I took him to. then trev had football practice again at 430-6pm.

friday I had daycare kids: kasen, kohen and kinsley (my favorites!) we had beautiful weather and spent so much time outside.

Over the weekend, we just rested and relaxed. i did finally get to a workout on sunday.

monday we finally were able to stop meds for Tova! i had kasen and kohen again and i worked out at 530.

tuesday i had cam, chloe, carsyn, kasen and kohen. it was hot out so we played outside and did the slip and slide. we had fun! then trevor had football practice.

2023 :: 32/52

 Wednesday, August 9th, both kids had dentist appointments then I worked out at noon.

Thursday Tova had her tonsils removed. we had to be at the hospital (the same hospital both kids were born at) at 730am (it was originally 645 but got moved back a little the day before.) we ended up waiting in the waiting room for over an hour which made Tova more worried as we went. mom joined us once she arrived in eau claire. I had gotten Tova a set of 6 mini squishmallows so she could pick one out every so often and she brought her puggy and descendants blanket with her that jodi let her pick out from amazon. Her surgery was very short; maybe 15 minutes and the doctor came back in and said "yeah the nurse and i both looked in her throat just before the surgery and said yeah we're here for the right reasons" because her tonsils were SO big. Once she started waking up they asked her if she wanted her mom and she said yes. mom and i were waiting in her room and they brought her in crying a bit. i grabbed her and we laid in bed and it was the hardest 20 minutes! She was crying and screaming and breathing so hard as she was coming out of anesthesia. I just had to hold her, and talk to her, and try to get her to take some meds so they could kick in before she was back with it.

finally, she came out of it and just snuggled with me. once her supper came she ate it like a champ (probly from big meds still in her.) we had to stay overnight because her tonsils caused sleep apnea for her so they wanted to monitor her while sleeping so her body didn't freak out with getting so much more oxygen. mom left to get trevor (since Al was still pretty immobile) and they picked up some goodies & activities at the dollar store and brought them. we had a rough night of sleep between Tova being in pain, sleeping in a tiny bed with wires/tubes, and the nurses having to come in every couple hours.

we were released really early in the morning via the doctor; he said her throat looked good and would have the white scabs on it for a while (he showed me so I knew what to look for.) the nurse didn't get us discharged until just after 8am but she said Tova by far did the best overnight of all the kids they had. trevor got to go play at liam's for a bit so tova could rest. we had a REALLY rough week especially with sleeping and eating. Tova and i both slept in Trevor's room since her bed was in there because Al was sleeping in her room because he couldn't get downstairs yet. she ended up sleeping with me for at least 5 days and waking up crying about every 2 hours in pain but I could only give her meds every 3 hours. it was rough! I had to re-buy kids tylenol & motrin 3 times throughout the week because we had to keep up on meds every 3 hours during the day and at night. she also wouldn't eat anything, even all the soft foods we'd bought. she would drink things so that saved us.

saturday unc-o and grandpa neil came down to visit but didn't stay too long. Trevor got to go to the express baseball game with graham, emily and joe and he had a blast! they got free food and drinks, and got to stay for autographs after the game.

sunday trevor and i went on a 2 mile bike ride, al ended up getting a migraine, and i cleaned trevors room up from the big switch-a-roo when Al had his surgery. otherwise we just rested up.

tuesday trevor had his first flag football practice and his coach is one of my trainers from the gym, Riley. he loved it!

2023 :: 31/52

 wednesday we had Rue. i worked out at noon. Al had his appointment with his elbow surgeon for his knee at 1130. he had to have xrays on his leg, meet with the athletic trainer, the surgeon's nurse, the surgeon, have his fancy knee brace fitted, and then have xrays on his elbow again. surgeon confirmed patellar tendon needed repair and that was the most pressing issue. no main ligaments torn within the knee (thank goodness) just one little one on the side of the kneecap, but he doesn't surgically repair that one in any patient so unless Al had kneecap instability (which the dr doesn't expect) he won't need to have surgery on that. they scheduled surgery for friday. uffda! Trev had his last flag footbal camp at 5pm.

thursday Al had his first PT for his elbow at 845, so I borrowed jodi's van; we dropped him off then the kids and i went to a playground and the dollar tree before picking Al up. Shortly after getting home, Al's coworker dropped off a wheel chair Al can borrow from the county and then Al got a bad migraine. he was out of it all day/night. It was REALLY hot and humid this day but i finally got our pool set up. after quiet time the kids played in the pool for a bit before we had to go to soccer. it was trev's last summer soccer game at 545 and it was hot!

friday mom came down bright and early to hang with the kids because we had to be at Al's surgery at 830. they were running on time this time around so we got to his room right away and i got to come with him the whole time. we waited less than an hour and the surgeon came in. then within a half hour he was taken back; 10:24! I got to stay in his room so i had my own bathroom, computer stand and tv! the "hour long" surgery took 2 hours again. I saw the surgeon walk by the room so I stopped and said "you're done?" He said Al once again threw him for a loop; it wasn't what he expected when he opened Al up, again. instead of tearing his patella tendon right off the kneecap, like most people do/normal, Al tore his in half. so it took longer than expected again. and Al took a long time to wake up again too. and he was in a lot of pain upon waking so we stayed in the hospital a while before heading home.

the first couple days were rough for Al; lots of pain (compared to elbow) and couldn't really move around by himself much. lots of swelling.

sunday shane, jodi and the boys came down to help and deliver lots of food jodi had prepped for us. freezer meals and such. kids played, went swimming in our little pool, and had fun. then Al's mom and rick stopped by with food too. they all left about supper time and we were all pooped. so we had supper, watched a movie and went to bed.

monday was Al's post op appointment and it was hard to get him out of the house, into the car, into the clinic, and he's not light to push in a wheel chair. got his ace bandage taken off and he almost passed out upon seeing his scar. he got compression sleeves for his leg which were way more comfortable for him than the ace bandage. they prescribed him a stronger anti-inflammatory medication and told us his leg will likely be locked straight for 4 weeks (we were originally told 0-2 weeks.) it's gonna be a long rehab for this knee. got him back in the car, picked up his meds and headed home.

still no pictures since my phone died :(
