2023 :: 25/52 :: The Lake

we had a great, HOT week at the lake. the kids didn't come out of the water much. we had 21 kids there this year, 13 and under! the alaska boys came for the first time in over 5 years and Trev loved having them (they are a year older, and a year younger than trev.) the kids slept great because they were so tired.

Al had to leave on wednesday, as usual to work country fest on thursday and work all weekend. but on tuesday when we were all getting in the lake and Al decided to jump off the dock into 2 feet of water to splash me. he put his arms out to brace himself and heard a crunch in his arm and was in immediate pain. he turned white, almost puked, but finally made it up to the cabins where there were nurses. he iced it but was in some pain and couldn't really move his arm much.

the next day his arm felt better and there was no swelling or bruising so he headed home. thursday morning, at home, it was super swollen & had a huge bruise!! he went in to the doctor and couldn't work. eventually, once we were home and he got a second opinion, found out he tore 2 of the 3 tricep tendons and needed surgery.

the kids and i stayed until saturday but tyler and trevor both weren't feeling great thursday night and friday. we rode home with mom on saturday and then packed up our car there and headed home. once home, matt & jodi picked me up and we went to the gym's annual baseball game. we did have a rain delay and then went to heartbreakers afterwords. it was fun!

Sunday Tova ended up having a fever and trev still didn't feel well and Al had a sore throat for 2 days.

monday we all went in to a new doctor's office through Al's work that everything is free for us, to get tested for strep. Al and Tova had strep, Trev's rapid test was negative but because he was having symptoms and was exposed, we treated all 3. the doctor we saw there, we really liked and he's the 2nd opinion on Al's arm who said he needed to see an orthopedic doctor and gave Al the referal. and good thing because the surgery was time sensitive.

tuesday tova had her first day of gymnastics which she loved and trevor had soccer practice for his summer team.

Wednesday was super smokey outside from canada's wildfires so we stayed inside.

thursday was my papa's celebration of life in the cities so we all went to that. it was so good to see family and us 4, my mom and brother went out for a late lunch.

friday we were supposed to hang out with matt, jodi and kids but their kids were sick (and ended up having strep, we found out later) so we just stayed home and packed for the lake.

saturday we left for the lake! we drove both vehicles up to mom's house, left the volkswagen there for Al, then caravaned with mom and tyler. we made it to park rapids for lunch at the royal, where kai, brett, reiko, will, ciara, maren, and her 3 girls met us. after getting our fishing license and a few other things in park rapids, we drove the last hour to the cabins.

I'll do a separate post for the week at the lake.

wednesday Al was off but had court at 10am. kids were done with school, i was done with jodi's but still had training for my remote payroll job. that night, Al's coworker Jim and his family Abby, Tyler and MacKenzie came over for some drinks and to let the kids play. it was so fun!

thursday trevor started his basketball camp at the local high school 8a-930a. he had a blast! then we all went garage saling. i had training again.

friday trev had basketball, the kids and i went garage saling and to a park with jodi and carsyn. i had training and did the 430 workout.

saturday i worked out at 915 while Jackie watched the kids then i took the kids to sherman and to culvers for their free ice cream. i did some work for my payroll job and started packing & doing things to prep for the lake.

sunday i worked out and brought the kids with me, then we went to riverview park, went hiking by the 3 ponds, and then stopped at aldi. i cut trev's hair.

monday Al was off, trev had basketball again and i watched 3 daycare kids: kasen, kohen and aspen. we loved having them here!

tuesday was trev's last day of basketball, and i had kasen, kohen and aspen again.

wednesday morning Al went to work, trev to school, tova and I to jodi's and it was HOT!

Thursday i worked out at 9am, kids had school, al worked. trevor had soccer at 530p.

friday i worked out at 6am adn then i had a dentist appointment at 2pm.

saturday was trevor's last soccer game and we brought the snacks for after the game. Al, Tova and mom came along to watch.

sunday was lasagna making day at mom's house for the lake with uncle jimmy, claire, maren, nick, tula, etta and leni. it was fun!

monday was back to work and school and jodi's. i also had training 1-2p.

tuesday was trevor's last day of school, tova and i had jodi's house which included 3 birthdays for daycare kiddos, then we had to leave early to go to Tova's ENT appointment finally! The ENT said her tonsils definitely need to come out and are likely causing her to have some sleep apnea. so we scheduled that for august 10th. in the afternoon, tova and i walked up to trevor's last day of school carnival with jodi and carsyn. it was hot but fun!
