it got cold this week! highs in the 30s, lower 40s. Al had off Monday and Tuesday.
Monday trevor didn't have school. once Al was awake we went outside to rake/sweep our leaves and bag them since the compost place was open and it snowed Monday night. we got 2/3 of our yard leaf free and Al and trevor took 20 bags down. Monday afternoon Shane came to visit after a meeting in eau Claire so we took him to hangar 54 for supper and drinks. he ended up staying the night and grandpa peter came to sit with the sleeping kids while we went out for a bit. Jodi came with too. we got home about midnight.
Tuesday was back to school but because it was so cold in the morning, we didn't walk. trevor didn't like that I didn't stay until the bell rang and they went in but he was fine once he found a friend on the playground. Tuesday night I went to the volleyball match.
Wednesday was school and laundry. then at 6 we went to the trunk or treat at matt & Jodi's church. it was nice and little and not busy; the kids loved it although it was cold.
Thursday was Halloween. Trevor got to have a fall party in his class and got to bring a costume to school. tova and I went over to Jodi's after dropping trevor off at school for a little Halloween party with graham, evrett, Kinsley, klare, and Carsyn. there was a craft, snack, game, exchanging bags/treats, then we went to a memory care facility to trick or treat there. home for an early lunch and nap so that we could go to the outdoor Halloween parade at trevor's school. all the kids got to parade through the playground area and around the school for all the parents to see. it was fun. then we stayed to pick up trevor. once home, we relaxed for a bit, grandpa peter walked over to visit, we had an early supper, then we went trick or treating. we were bundled up in layers and with tova walking this year, we were slow (trevor kept saying "come ON") but we had fun! tova got so many "she's so cute"s, she said "tank you" to everyone, and didn't want to put her pumpkin down. she also said "CANDY" a lot. :) trevor said trick or treat and thank you at every house and even got some extra candy for his sister on the ones she didn't make it up to. we just went around one block then we came home and passed out candy. trevor watched out the window for kids to come, opened the door and passed out the candy (he loved it!)
Saturday morning bright and early we all loaded into the car and drove up to the north shore for my grama's 102nd birthday party. we stopped in Duluth to pick rocks then once we unpacked at the hotel, we went into silver bay for lunch supplies and to hit my favorite thrift store. then back to the hotel for lunch, nap for tova and swim for trevor and I. we had lots of family at the hotel with us including nana, unc-o and trevor & tova's cousins: tula, etta, leni, ruby, ryan and charlotte. we all hung out in the lobby until it was time for grama's party which we had a banquet room in the hotel for. we had a pizza party with cupcakes. the kids had fun, grama had fun, we all had fun! grama has dementia and doesn't remember much, but she remembered her party when she got back to assisted living that night and actually remembered it in the morning too!! so she really loved it! that night was daylight savings time so we had the kids go swimming again in attempt to keep them up a little longer (for the extra hour.) Tova loved the water and even walked right into the big pool to Al. trevor had so much fun playing ball with unc-o and ryan.
sunday morning we met our family in the lobby for continental breakfast then we went swimming again. once we were all bathed and packed up, a bunch of us went down to the beach by the hotel for rock picking and it was gorgeous out! the sun was out, blue sky, the big lake (lake superior), rocks, trees, family!! then we hit the road. we stopped quickly for lunch then got back on the road. in texting with my cousins all their kids were asleep right away and they couldn't even stop for lunch.... tova didn't sleep until 2 hours into the drive despite being super tired at the beach, and trevor didn't sleep at all.... it was a great weekend!! we stopped at klingers farmers market and shopping and play area on the way home (it's in bloomer.) but it was pretty cold so we didn't stay long.
