wardrobe

so i'm a bit odd in my wardrobe choices as i mostly wear black. i have many reasons that shall remain in my head alone for doing this but i have come to love it and appreciate it as "my style." don't get me wrong, i love color and love to throw in pops of color with my black, and thus find myself often pining over gorgeously colored pieces. so i thought what could be a better place to pine then on my blog? well, here are a few beautiful pieces i'd love to have (if they fit into my style :])
but first this picture hit me as soon as i saw it!! a whole room with huge windows as a closet? yes please!!!!!! and a floor to ceiling shoe shelf? count me in!!! i'd die!!
i have recently rediscovered my love of dresses. i bought and wore a bunch of them this past summer and continue to buy them to wear next summer! (mind you, i have not had a love of dresses since kindergarden. which promptly ended in kindergarden when the boys tried to look at my undies at recess...) i lllloooovvve this pretty little simple green dress with sleeves!!
these floral sleeves are amazingly beautiful and delicate, i'd love to first have these sleeves on a dress and then have somewhere fancy to go to wear them!! :)
and the colors in this picture are fabulous! love the rustic/vintage feel and the pearl bracelet!!
also, i have always, some where deep down inside, wanted a half sleeve tattoo!! i think they can be so beautiful and can create a whole new look for a wardrobe. maybe one day i'll do it....
working on a style and staying true to it is so difficult when the tempature barely gets above zero, but i will continue to try or at least find more pretty pictures :]

still head over heals!

i have absolutely adored, been in total and complete love with shelves for years now. i don't know what it is about them but i want a lot of them and i want them full of things that represent me and most importantly full of books! it must be my love of organizing materializing out into a tangible thing. i would love a room where all the walls are shelves or a house where each room as one wall that is just shelves. a library room with floor to ceiling shelves would also be amazing.
when i was younger and collecting beanie babies (yes i have tons of them...) i also collected wooden shelves with hearts carved in to them to put my beanie babies on. i had them on every wall in my room. i have recently taken down all those shelves and the beanie babies, but still have book shelves in my room and if i had more wall space i would have more...
ok enough with my obsession, hopefully you get the idea now... :} here are a few pics i found of gorgeous shelves on weheartit.com.color coordinated books? yes please. beautiful!
love the symmetrical yet different parts of this shelf. and love the globes!

floor to ceiling wall of book shelves!! love!
having a design on the back of the shelves is a beautiful way to add to a simple shelf. i love it!
o.m.g. can i have this please?!?!?!?!?!?!?

christmas lights

i love christmas lights!!! i'm sad that people will be taking down or unplugging their lights now that christmas is over! i love the glow and how happy i feel looking at them. the white lights can be great and the simplicity of them is gorgeous but i love the colored lights best! :] here are some beautiful christmas light pictures i found on we heart it. i love trees with lights in succession and on sidewalks/streets!!
this tree is fab-u-lous!! i want one!!

and star lights on trees? are you freaking kidding me? love!!!
the big, colored lights are my favorite!! remind me of my childhood when we used to put these on our house and on our tree... :]

and i love an exceeding normal amount of lights on each tree! :)
hope the holidays are/were great for you!!

brrr.. and xmas!!!

it's freezing here!!! brrr.... it went from 40's to single digits and i was/am not prepared. but i love the snow. snapped a few pictures around our house tonight mostly to get moving around to try and keep off some of the chills. :)
here is our beautiful tree. although it is mom's tree and i tend to resent it because i prefer a real tree like we used to have and wish for our family/handmade ornaments as the decor as it used to be; i must admit it is pretty to look at.
love when there's some holly nog in the fridge!! so yummy!!

mom's little fire unit is the closest thing we've ever had to a fire place and i have to say i'm loving it. being able to stand next to it and be insta-warm is a great thing. plus it's pretty cute.
saw this t-shirt lying around in my brothers clean laundry pile. made me laugh. i think deer are incredibly beautiful; then i read it... chuckles :)

i think i hooked this little guy on our cubbard when i was 6 or so and he's been there ever since. he just makes me smile :]

that's all for now. hoping to try my hand at snow pictures tomorrow seeing as how the amazing gina is stilling letting me have the rebel. ps. gina is currently doing a can's for comment food drive so visit her page, leave her a comment, and do the easiest donation possible (she does all the work) :]

tis the season | cookies

today my momma and i made the majority of our christmas cookies. we take a day each year and make em; sometimes we have help from others some years we don't. this year it was just the 2 of us! :) we have our usual/typical kinds that we stick to. pretty much the tasty ones that don't require too much work :]
we made spritz's!! with a manual spritz machine. these are pretty much my favorite to make!!
we also made the peanut butter hersey kiss ones (we made a double batch this year; may be too many....)
and haystacks mmmmm.. so yummy!!
and russian tea cakes
and these peanut butter town house chocolate ones that i don't know the name of but that are sooooo tasty!!!!

and there will be a few more kinds made tomorrow!!! i love christmas time!!!!

gina is awesome!!

so as most people who know me already know, i think my good friend gina is pretty much the coolest! she is very creative and amazing photographer and always does/decorates/dresses aesthetically pleasing (at least to me!!). even when the things she does aren't maybe necessarily my taste i still adore them and adore her!! so while i was at her house tonight (before her) i snapped some pictures of her office. her office has been a work in progress for you since it became her office, but i love it! she is still wanting to change a few things, but i think there are a lot of things in there that really represent her! and i llllllove the color on the one wall (salmon-y); it makes me light up every time i see it. it's a very cheery color! any who, here's a few details from her office.
first up is an awesome plant and the salmon-y colored wall that i love!!
then here is one of her book shelves with awesome bins that we found at target
just one of her many fantastically cool bags she has just lying around teasing me :)

i love stars!!

some vintage items, my wall, and a sweet frame with a pic of her and her hubby matt (whom i also adore!!!)

her super sweet computer that i want and love!!! gina loves all things apple!! :]

a cool find i hadn't seen before, calendar!!!

and who doesn't have a mustache for every day of the week just lying around? :}

and this book shelf really makes the room!! it's full of vintage books, cameras and other vintage classics along with some bins and a tv (complete with biggest loser on) :)

gina really is the bees knees in all things creative. if you haven't already you should definitely check out her photo site or blog just for beauty's sake.
