wednesday was Al's first day off of 7!! it was trevor's last day of school until the new year. i worked out at noon. we cleaned the house in prep for christmas stuff.
thursday we had a little oleson christmas with grandpa peter and auntie althea (and she brought her dog, griffin, which the kids loved) at 11. we opened presents, ate lunch, and put together Tova's kitchen from grandpa peter. Al had a cough that got a little worse this day. we then went to a movie at the movie theater with matt, jodi & the kids at 4. we saw Sing 2 and it was so good! it was tova's first movie in the theater and we got the big recliner seats. the popcorn was delicious and tova sat pretty good; she did move around a bit, sit with me a bit, and danced a bit. she also talked loudly to carsyn behind us. :) on the way home we grabbed supper and then relaxed the rest of the night.
friday morning Al didn't feel very good. i worked out at 9am, then he went to his work to get the rapid test for covid which came back positive so they told him to go to the actual doctor to get the regular test which he did and got in just before they closed since it was christmas eve. we didn't go to wausau as planned due to this and were sad to miss it since we hadn't been in a while. after nap, i took the kids outside since it was warm out; the little bit of snow we had left was slushy and slippery. trevor ended up twisting or spraining his ankle while trying to snowboard down our little snow pile. we did find out late that night that Al did have covid. :( so we had to cancel all other christmas plans and stay home.
saturday was christmas day! the kids loved their stocking stuff from santa and Al felt better than friday but did have a cough. he was upstairs with us for a bit, masked, so he could see the kids opening presents and spend time with us on christmas. i tried to say yes to everything the kids asked to do or have, played with them with all their new stuff, got them activities to do, and made some fun meals including ice cream for lunch, so that they'd still have a good/fun christmas. my brother and dad did drive down to bring the kids their presents and irish cream for me. they watched through the window and then headed out. so nice of them!!! i was exhausted by the night but did get to watch a christmas movie once the kids were in bed. that night just before midnight tova woke up crying and she was super hot (fever) so i gave her tylenol and we didn't sleep a lot after that.
sunday morning tova was hot again when she woke up so i gave her tylenol and the kids played and got their kindles for a bit while i cleaned. after that both kids didn't feel very good. so i snuggled with them while they watched a movie. kassie dropped off banana bread, a little gift for the kids, adn a white claw for me. matt & the big kids dropped off presents for the kids too. so nice! i made lunch and neither kid ate a single bite and both asked to go to bed for nap/quiet time. i watched the vikings game during nap time and Al spent the day downstairs.
monday morning i got up and shoveled and then called the covid testing place to get us appointments. they didn't have openings until 330. the kids and i got tested and the kids did great! they were so brave and sat still and didn't cry or anything. so we got powerade and donuts as a treat on the way home.
tuesday we found out we were all positive for covid. lucky for us tho, the cdc had just come out on monday with shortened quarantine times. i got a call from the health department to confirm the 5 day quarantine and that trevor could go back to school, masked (they mask all day anyway) in the new year with the rest of the kids after winter break. we went out and shoveled again in the morning before the wind picked up and it got really cold.
